--I like the flavor and the worldbuilding. The writing is generally pretty solid. --the game is heavily inspired by Disco Elysium. --*everything* else about this game is totally underbaked. --In general, the game leans heavily towards soullessly buying an army of businesses/pawns which are ~interchangeable and have no flavor whatsoever. Get ready for news updates like "pharmaceutical purchase #4 just entered the field". And… you can reasonably win with purchasing none of the pawns whatsoever. This is lame as hell. --it's extremely unsatisfying and strange how little traditional success metrics matter in this business strategy game. Whether you own 0% or 29% of your company makes no difference whatsoever. (If you can get to 30%+, that's an alternate condition for beating the final boss). Personal wealth: no difference whatsoever at any point? Company profitability: almost completely meaningless. Highly entertaining hybrid of corporation management and roleplaying mystery narrative. The management mechanics aren't all that deep, yet they have enough weight and player choice to feel satisfyingly meaningful.

A solid game that at first glance seems to be just a simplistic business management but is instead far more than that. Give it a try, it is not easy and you can scale up the difficulty on top of that. There are multiple endings... yes, in a business game. In fact, this might be one of... if not the only business game with an ending, and surely the first with multiple endings. The only weakness was its U.I, but they have been working hard on solving issues and increasing its efficiency. If this goes on, the game will flow like water in no time. The music is suitable and it plays once in a while or during important events. It is not a constant noise in the background. The type of music is quite pleasant to hear and goes well with the game's universe. The game figures several strong characters with their own personalities which can affect your game if you displease them for example or make them super happy. This could make them leave your company or give you a different ending for them (or even the company's). A truly unique hidden gem. Bought randomly on a whim mostly because the Art looked great and the premise seemed fascinating. I was pleasantly surprised, Holonoptic is as engaging as it is well-written. Definitely a breath of fresh air for management sims.

I was very interested by the aesthetic and premise, though I don't usually play games that have this much strategy involved. Though I felt in over my head at first, it ended up being really engaging and fun, and I found a lot of success just trying things out!
