Mia dreams of adventure, but her feeling of responsibility to her workmates – who have become her surrogate family – keeps her working at a job she’s bored of, living a life she didn’t want. When a mysterious woman (Marshanda) turns up scared and on the run, Mia’s decision to take her under her wing and try to discover her identity leads her down a path of intrigue, mystery and danger.

The viewer’s choices will guide Mia through the adventure and will determine her fate, as well as that of the whole group. Throughout the game, your interactions could increase your knowledge around the identity of the mysterious woman, but the way Mia deals with the rest of the group will also have an impact, so each choice needs to be carefully considered.

Mia and the Dragon Princess receives mixed reactions from Wales Interactive fans. Players praise its ambitious action sequences, multiple endings, and entertaining premise, with some calling it a fun adventure that delivers on its promise of unpredictability. However, critics argue the nonlinear story structure is confusing rather than engaging, the writing feels rushed and unfocused, and player choices don't meaningfully impact the narrative, making it feel more like a passive movie than an interactive experience despite solid FMV production values.
Mia and the Dragon Princess is an energetic FMV adventure that embraces the idea of playing through an action movie rather than trying to imitate a conventional video game. Developed by Wales Interactive, Dead Pixel Productions, and Good Gate Media, and published by Wales Interactive, it places most of its emphasis on live-action performances, branching decisions, cinematic storytelling, and the consequences of player choices. Its interactive systems are intentionally straightforward, but the combination of mystery, comedy, danger, and martial arts gives the experience a personality that distinguishes it from slower, dialogue-heavy interactive films. The story centers on Mia, a barmaid whose ordinary routine is disrupted when a frightened woman named Marshanda unexpectedly appears at her workplace. Marshanda is running from violent pursuers and cannot communicate with Mia in English, leaving her intentions and background uncertain. Mia chooses to help her, and what initially appears to be an unusual encounter rapidly develops into a dangerous situation involving criminals, hostages, secrets, and escalating violence. The mystery surrounding Marshanda becomes one of the primary reas…1 found this helpful
Couldnt go on playing this (didnt finish it). This is like they bypassed any form of editing and just went with what came to their heads. The story is way too complex for such a short game and on top of it they introduce a ton of characters that obviously have no time to ever be explored or matter. They needed to incorporate comic strips in order to even explain the story, otherwise they wouldnt have had the space or money to do it. I feel like a really good editor would have helped them cut some of those characters and narrow down the story to something fitting the budget. The second problem is the lack of direction in terms of acting. The second main character behaves like a cavewoman, when she is supposed to be one of the fiercest pirates that ever existed. A lot of the camera shots dont make sense, almost as if they had no technical sense of how to invoke certain feelings and athmosphere with it. All in all a really big miss. Shame, because there are some interested actors in it.1 found this helpful
Not Wales Interactive's best FMV game, you should probably play The Isle Tide Hotel, Late Shift or The Complex instead
The game has about 1.5 hours of video, but it shows you same scenes again and again without letting you skip them. Do you want to see same 5-7 minutes scene 10 times? If so, this game is great. I did it just to get the achievements. First 2 walkthroughs were fun (2 separate lines of the story, 30-40 mins each). The rest is just watching same scenes again and again
I have mixing thoughts on it. I think the game is too short. Way too short. When i saw the story path I was like ok this is probably only chapter one or something....nope entire thing. Also a lot of people die in this and only the husband has a realistic reaction where he starts crying and is devastated, like people die horrible deaths and the other characters are just like "damn sucks to be her" and continue their investigation. Like what she's foaming at the mouth and theres another dead body in the other corner of the room mangled like do people in London just have no reaction to death at all. Maybe it's a cultural thing lol. But besides the weird way the actors react I found it actually pretty compelling, the actors are truely great in the more dramatic scenes, the fight scenes are genuinely choreographed super well, there's a John Wick badass thing to Mashanda that like had me on the edge of my seat, I would very much enjoy a longer sequel where Mashanda can get wild and kick some ass for an entire game. Was my favorite part of the game by far. I would say buy if you are a true fan of Wales. There's a lot of positives here but do not buy this one if it's your first rode…
The people in this game seem completely unphased by murder and death. Its just shrugged off like its a daily occurrence, but then again this is Soho, so I guess thats legit. The pirates jizz cocktail is intriguing though, I think I'd enjoy that.
