✦ AI summary

Luxor Amun Rising is a polished refinement of the original Luxor that sticks closely to the proven match-three shooting formula while adding 88 levels, improved ball patterns, better visuals, and a new useful powerup. Players appreciate the incremental improvements and larger content offering, though some note it doesn't dramatically depart from the first game's structure, with later levels beginning to repeat similar designs. Most players recommend this version over the original since it contains all previous content plus new material, making it the better choice for series fans.
LIVE RISING 2.5
“Luxor: Amun Rising” is one of those expansions that doesn’t try to reinvent the wheel—it sticks to the tried-and-true formula of the first game and fine-tunes it. This time, players won’t face Set himself, but the Princes of Megiddo, whose countless minions come in endless chains of colorful spheres. We still have our trusty winged shooter, and the goal is clear: don’t let the balls reach the pyramid.[eos] The game feels noticeably bigger: 88 levels give about an hour more gameplay than the original. Full credit to the designers at MumboJumbo—the ball movement patterns are much more original and challenging. The early stages are a joy because they don’t repeat, and even though levels start to repeat in the second half (like in the first game), new elements introduced closer to the finale keep things interesting. Visually, the game serves as a bridge to full 3D, confidently shifting to a 2.5D format with a redesigned map and funnier illustrations. A big new feature is the addition of difficulty levels (Easy, Medium, Expert), letting you either chill with a YouTube video or go for a real challenge, racking up 30+ million points per playthrough. Luxor: Amun Rising, developed by MumboJumbo and published by Accelerate Games, builds directly on the foundation of the original Luxor, refining its mechanics and expanding its content without straying from the formula that defined the series. It feels like a natural progression rather than a reinvention, taking what worked in the first game and enhancing it with smoother gameplay, a larger campaign, and small but meaningful improvements that make the experience more polished overall. The core gameplay remains centered on controlling a horizontal launcher that fires colored spheres into an advancing chain. The objective is unchanged: create matches to eliminate segments before they reach the pyramid. What continues to make this system engaging is the balance between immediate reactions and forward planning. Players must constantly read the movement of the chain, anticipate future positions, and place shots with precision to trigger chain reactions. These cascading eliminations are especially satisfying, offering moments where careful setup leads to large-scale success. Compared to the original, the pacing feels slightly more fluid, with improved responsiveness that makes each acti…

Luxor: Amun Rising is pretty much exactly like the first game but with a new powerup that's pretty useful and some new levels. It's not that much different from the first but I'd say go with this one as opposed to the first one since this game has all the levels from the first game with some new levels and the aforementioned new powerup.

Luxor: AR is like a yakuza kiwami to yakuza 1, just more polished game, improved visuals, more stable on modern systems. Luxor AR is better than Luxor 1, but not by much. Probably the different set of levels that hooked me up more compared to original

Luxor: Amun Rising is kinda like the first Luxor, it's nice zuma game. In this generation, the developers changed a bit on the map designs. They started to create new hieroglyphs out of the real ones written on relics and edited some of the drawings to be more fun (the Narmer Palette falcon, representing Horus, thumbs up in the game rather than holding a rope as on the real palette). Personally speaking, the funniest one is the mummy coming alive and scared the hell out of the person in the Mouth Opening Ceremony. It even has a continuous plot: you, the warrior who somehow defeated Set (suggested in the ending of Luxor), again stopped the rebellious princes and can go back to your previously granted ville on the Nile. In Amun Rising, the maps directly suggest the plot happened during the Middle Kingdom, the 13th dynasty to be more specific (one of the maps is literally just called Hyksos). Adding some history in the game is definitely a nice touch. For drawbacks, just like Luxor, the maps are reused every few stages. However, there are enough new maps which makes the stages way less repetitive. Yep, still a good game.
