Basically, it’s the same casual game, just with some new textures and a couple of colors—turquoise and orange for the balls. The new stuff includes a dagger bonus and ball recoloring, while the good old scorpion bonus from Amun Rising got noticeably nerfed, which can sometimes make tense situations even tougher. Levels are now kind of 3D with little background animations, but it’s nothing to write home about. There are three different difficulty modes, plus survival and practice, but that doesn’t really save things. The bonus levels where you can only use daggers are super annoying. You end up mindlessly clicking, making your finger super tired, and you don’t really get anything from it—just farming points. In-game achievements are pretty meaningless too, just cold numbers that don’t make you want to keep playing. No real rewards, no useful Steam stuff, and no in-game trophy graphics here. The game no longer works if you try to download it directly from the steam store, instead I had to replace some of the files where I used a previous discussion here on Steam to find and replace the files needed to make the game run, but once running it runs flawlessly and just as I remembered playing this as a child. if you're savvy with dealing with game files and are willing to go through and fix it yourself, it is good and I recommend it. if not, do not purchase this product, as it does not even launch otherwise

Luxor 2, developed by MumboJumbo and published by Accelerate Games, takes the foundation established by the original Luxor and expands it into a larger, more content-heavy experience without straying far from its core identity. It is very much a sequel in the traditional sense—more levels, more power-ups, and a slightly refined presentation—rather than a bold reinvention. For players familiar with the first game, it feels immediately recognizable, offering the same addictive marble-shooting mechanics while gradually increasing the scale and intensity. The gameplay remains centered on controlling a horizontal launcher that fires colored spheres into an advancing chain. Matching groups of three or more clears segments of the chain, and the objective is to prevent it from reaching its endpoint. This formula is simple but effective, relying on a balance of quick reflexes and forward planning. It's a nicely done game like the rest of the series, but the grinding for 100% achievement is literally hell. The overall plot doesn't change much, which is still [spoiler]Set was defeated and Isis awarded you by creating a brand new constellation for you[/spoiler]. The difficulty? Well, if you are looking for some challenge, go try 10-4 in expert cuz it did drive me crazy lmao. Still too ez? Try Challenge of Horus. The settings of Luxor 2 is more developed, as you can directly toggle the special effects (which are kinda annoying) and [spoiler]cheat[/spoiler]. The graphic designs definitely shine in this generation of the game, and you can see they put effort into this. The achievements, the icons of different ranks, the ranks themselves have references from irl history, etc.

Finished it ATLEAST 5 times on my retro console that emulates PSP, and I finished it on 100% with collecting all the achievements. The gameplay feels way snappier than compared to first game, I love the upgrade thingy that you choose what to use, the implementation of bonus stages is good, compared to dubious Luxor 4.

Great game - If you complain it doesn't work, just patch it with pirated .exe files from online versions. No idea why MumboJumbo released the games in this state, but they DO work out of the box, it's just that,for whatever reason, different .exe files work and others do not, and the one provided with Steam release is broken. It's seriously well worth playing this - The other positive reviews tell you all you need to know about the game and how it plays, so I'm not gonna bother writing that here.
