Another great game by Atlus.
I was loving this game up until the final stretch, in which unfortunately, like so many other games it pooped itself. I was playing on Hard and it was challenging but still manageable up until then, progression felt smooth and you would get enough levels from random encounter to be prepared for the next boss, without any hiccup on the journey - and then they throw Tehom at you. A final boss with a disgustingly ludicrous HP pool, an artificial difficulty spike in which even if I had a better team and sustainability through MP recovery items, the fight would have still lasted near an hour - an hour of tedious rinse and repeat. But I didn't had either, and my team wasn't prepared for that, so the only path left was to go back somewhere, run circles and grind for hours. The game had been enjoyable up to that point precisely because it never felt tedious and you where never griding, just naturaly progressing as you where discovering new locations. But this game-design mentality of simply putting a numeric wall at the end simply because "the end needs to be memorable", is idiotic! It's a 30years old design pattern from an age when we didn't know any better, and certainly n…
I like SMT and Persona games. The only downsides are the sexualization and the long grinding sessions—though there are some exceptions to the grinding because that part of the games is fun, haha.
