✦ AI summary

Players appreciate Vertical Strike as a simple, affordable arcade-style flight combat game with good replayability and engaging achievements, noting it works well with a controller despite dated graphics. Common criticisms include the extremely bare-bones content with only two nearly identical planes, limited game modes, lack of plane customization, slow early waves, and some technical issues with controller setup and game launching that affected certain players.

This is a pretty barebones arcade flight game. The controls feel way clunkier than they need to be, which makes dogfighting more frustrating than fun. There's also not much variety since it's basically just endless waves with the same few objectives repeating over and over. After a while, it starts to feel really repetitive. There are plenty of better arcade flight games out there, so it's hard to recommend sticking with this one.

Endless replayability, love it. Would love it even more with a bit more planes and a much wider variety of game modes, as well as plane customization.

A really fun little game. The gameplay is pretty simple, but it’s also really satisfying and definitely scratches that aerial combat itch. I honestly didn’t expect it to be this addictive. There’s a good variety of weapons to play around with, and the achievements were actually a lot of fun to go for. Quite a few of them encourage you to experiment with different weapons and playstyles, which kept me playing until I managed to unlock them all. I got it for €0.99, so at that price it was an easy buy. But even at the normal €4.99 price, I’d say it’s worth it. Definitely a nice little game if you’re into this kind of thing.

English review: I recommend it, especially for the price. To be honest, this is a very simple game. In terms of graphics and presentation, it even feels older than its 2017 release date suggests. However, considering how cheap it gets on sale, that is not a big problem. I saw some reviews mentioning issues with running the game, controller support, and similar things, but personally I did not have any problems. The game ran normally for me, and I was able to play with a controller without any trouble. In fact, I think it feels much better with a controller than with keyboard and mouse. One positive point that I really liked was the achievements. I found them pretty fun, and this little game actually made me want to try other similar games. Overall, it is not a very impressive game visually, and it does feel quite dated, but it works well enough for what it is. Is it worth it? For the price, yes. On sale, I think it is worth playing.

This game reminded me of a roguelike-ized version of Aero Fighters Assault for the N64, so I bought it. It's kinda fun, but it's just far too bare-bones - even for the $1 I paid on sale. The first bunch of waves are also very boring and samey, so it takes way too long for things to become interesting. I could forgive the lack of production value if it just gave me a burning itch to instantly restart every time I died, but sadly it doesn't. I'll be refunding this and will later likely buy the non-tech-demo version of this game the developer appears to have listed on Steam.
