About 7th Legion

There's no Salvation from this army!
Can you survive this furiously fast, kill-for-money, real-time blood-fest? There's nowhere to hide as you smash your opponent in'to-the-limit' conflict. And, while you've got a few nanoseconds to spare, you've got to build to survive, mechs, tanks, troops, mounted slavens - a host of murderous military units who will hone their killing skills with experience.

Just what devastating effect does a 7th legion priest have in battle? what happens when you summon the dark legion?

The landscape is isometric and you've got to be ice-cool to survive in the blazing heat of combat. And there's more! Random power ups and a massive selection of battle cards that can turn the tides of war in a flash. But be careful: you don't know what cards your opponent is holding and even when you've got his last trooper cornered he might play the battle card that wipes away your entire force!

Salvation? They'll be lucky to find a stone to crawl under! 7th Legion

Game Features:
 • Jump into over 40 massive missions including indoor and night scenarios.
 • Beat the clock in special timed sub-missions.
 • Manage your force's skill and accuracy using the experience-based ranking/promotion system.

7th Legion is a Strategy game which I really enjoyed in the late 90's. I cannot however recommend this version as it does not run well on modern machines. If the game doesn't start for you at all, try removing ddraw.dll from the game folder.

7th Legion, developed by Epic MegaGames and Vision Software and later republished by Atari and Nightdive Studios, is a fascinating artifact of late-1990s real-time strategy design—a game that sought to challenge conventions of the genre at a time when resource management and base-building were the unquestioned pillars of success. Rather than following the Command & Conquer or StarCraft formula, 7th Legion embraced a faster, more combat-driven structure that placed momentum and aggression at the center of its design. The result is a title brimming with ambition and ideas ahead of its time, but also one plagued by the technical limitations and design inconsistencies that would ultimately hold it back from classic status. Still, even decades later, the game stands out as a curious and distinctive experiment in how to make strategy feel immediate, unpredictable, and chaotic. The game’s setting is a post-apocalyptic vision of humanity’s future, where a catastrophic environmental collapse forced the evacuation of the elite into orbiting arks, leaving the rest of the population to perish on the ruined Earth. Generations later, the descendants of those survivors—collectively known as the …

7th Legion makes its return with a no-frills re-release of the original 1997 RTS. For fans of the classic, it’s a nostalgic trip down memory lane—exactly as it was, with no fresh coat of paint or added features. However, that also means it brings along its fair share of quirks and frustrations. Set in a post-apocalyptic future, the game pits two factions—the 7th Legion, the underdogs left behind on an uninhabitable Earth, against the Chosen, the elite who fled to the stars. The storyline is minimal, offering little beyond the intro video, but the focus is on the gameplay itself. Each side features mirrored infantry, but the real differentiation lies in their vehicles and mechs, creating a dynamic combat experience. The economy operates through a unique card system, which, while intended to add strategy, can quickly become frustrating. The enemy often uses cards to randomly and constantly blow up most of your units, making it feel less like a calculated battle and more like an exercise in frustration. This randomness detracts from the enjoyment of the game and can undermine well-laid plans. While missions can be engaging, some—push the boundaries of challenge. Unfortunately, the …

It definitely shows its age but it's a good game. Crashes often but it was playable for me

The music is super bad-ass, but the gameplay is really weak. The UI looks bad too. It feels like a cheap copy of C&C. Yes, the very first C&C which came out 2 years before this! To be honest, it's more like a copy of Dune 2 (1992) with the extra ability to select more than one unit at a time (group-select, yeah Dune 2 did not have this). The problem (for the game) is that we can play even Dune 2 in a modern way (with the ability to group-select, higher res., etc.) (Dune Legacy), so there's no chance I want to play a (super-outdated) game like this. I would have not enjoyed this even in 1997! It was an embarrassment even when it came out. In the same year Age of Empires came out. C&C was already 2 years old, as I mentioned. C&C:RA was 1 year old. WarCraft was 3, WarCraft 2 was 2 years old. Dune 2000 and StarCraft was less than a year to come out. These games are in the same genre (RTS) and were the competitors of this game at that time. All of them are better. So yeah, it was a bad game even in it's own genre.
