Fun 2D platformer that runs like butter on SteamDeck
I'm really enjoying playing Tembo the BadAss Elephant, and this is a really fun 2D platformer/side-scroller that has been ported from the PS4. Now normally most PS4 games won't run on the Steam, but the original wasn't very demanding of hardware and this port has been optimised right. If the words anthropromorphic 2D platformer lights up the monkey part of the brain, you're going to love it. He is one bad-ass elephant and its a cheap price that gives great value!

Super cool to play a game made by Gamefreak that isn't Pokemon, and it's good? HOWEVER, WHAT THE HELL IS THE DEAL WITH NO CLOUD SAVES!? I started on my GPD Win Mini and then tried moving to my Steam Deck and had to start over from scratch. That sucks! Enable cloud saves! Why would you not have them? Fun and interesting playstyle. It's fun to play as an elephant in a game with so much high action. Very unique and inventive.

I loved this game on PS4, but on PC there is no way to get it past 1080p resolution. It's good on Steam Deck, but on my 1440p monitor it's really blurry. Would love to play this again, but I just can't like it is. Hoping it'll get patched one day to support resolutions up to 4K at least.
It's funny but...
I don't consider myself as a regular player or frequent consumer of platformers, but one thing I can assure you it's I enjoy them and this game is not an exception. I would say Tembo The badass elephant is a funny game to pass the time but I won't say is a great platformer you should take as a challenge as other titles. Beyond that, it's visually nice, it has a great style based on comics, so if you like that kind of stuff, you would love its art. Here are some points I consider when deciding not to recommend the game:

Good mechanics, although special moves are not fully well-used in the entire game;
some special moves are used only in two or three levels, nothing else.

It has its own stats tracking system, although it doesn't have a real purpose at all;
each level saves the time it took you to complete it and the amount of rescued people. (For a moment I thought they were used to break your personal records against with others).

On the technical side:

Poor optimization; The game runs perfectly, but when there are too many entities on screen, everything seems to slow down. An…

Its a super fun game with lots of action. It reminds me of Mario and Sonic. I like all of the adventures and missions you can do too!

I have had a curiosity to play Game Freak's other titles that aren't Pokémon. And for my first foray into their catalogue, I found myself drawn to this title for obvious reasons. Tembo is a title that is fun for a playthrough. It's a short, sweet game which never gets too complicated during your time playing it. Tembo does a good job introducing new enemy types and introducing new hazards as well that you will need to deal with. The visuals are charming enough, but nothing to write home about. The music especially isn't anything amazing, and I could not remember a single track after finishing the game. The story is lacking, but for what this game is certainly going for, not having one to sink your teeth into is understandable. The gameplay, however, is where this game falls short. The term 'lacking' is something that I find myself coming back to. This game is lacking. You feel yourself wanting more when you're playing through the levels. More items to collect. More enemy variation. More obstacles to traverse. The difficulty, as well, was fairly easy even when you are collecting everything in the game. The most difficult part is the game having a lives system that I foun…
