DEMON'S TILT

DEMON'S TILT is an imaginative fusion of digital pinball, shoot-'em-up action, bullet hell, and arcade score chasing that deliberately ignores many of the limitations of a physical pinball table. Developed by WIZNWAR and FLARB LLC and published by FLARB LLC, it takes the familiar idea of keeping a ball in play and surrounds it with enemies, projectiles, bosses, supernatural abilities, secrets, and increasingly elaborate scoring systems. The result feels less like a simulation of traditional pinball and more like an arcade action game constructed around pinball physics. The centerpiece is a huge three-tiered gothic cathedral table filled with ramps, mechanical traps, creatures, targets, and concealed objectives. Its structure initially appears intimidating because there is considerably more happening than on a conventional table. With repeated play, however, its design becomes easier to understand. Players gradually learn which shots activate valuable opportunities, how the different sections connect, and where particular enemies and objectives fit into the overall scoring strategy. Never considered myself a pinball fan But boy am I a Demon's Tilt fan

All of the gimmicks (and more), plus the over-stimulation of digital pinball, but none of the charm or coherence of a strongly themed table. Muddy layout and incomprehensible table rules means it is not for me - ymmv.

[h1]Occult Pinball? Super Jackpot[/h1] Enter the cult with [i]DEMON'S TILT[/i] (2019). Sick, heavy metal pixel art aesthetic with an even sicker music track, this is a fun indie take on video pinball. Instead of yet another 3D hyper-real physics-simulated approach to pinball, [i]DEMON'S TILT[/i] goes full on 2D gothic fantasy and leans into the video game/bullet-hell side. You get one long/tall table that has a few different tiers you'll bounce around in with challenging shots. Nudging is essential. There's a great deal of depth to the table with many minigames and modes. It's a little pricey for one table but it's comparable to an evening at a barcade with a few games on an actual table. I like the Tate mode option—that's where you turn your monitor vertical—which could help with the issue where you can't see the whole long playfield when say multi-ball is active. Not hard to recommend if you enjoy having fun with pinball.
