From indie-game award winning LaboGameStudio comes its first shareware Action Horror Adventure game!
Ever since the war ended, the island has been slowly re-consumed by nature.
Try as we might to keep our regrets in our memories, the choices and events of the past don't just disappear.

Having been sucked into an alternate world where the relics of war are now living, breathing creatures, our heroine must get around these monsters and, along with her companion, find a way back to their world...

Game Features

 • A fully panned out script with rich characters and multiple endings
 • Detailed Pixel art drawn from 3D rending that helps create a well made mix of immersion and presence.
 • Music composed using the next generation virtual sound instrument, Vienna Symphonic Orchestra, enhancing the atmosphere.

The concept of this game is "experience of sympathy".

What makes a game resonate with players?
What makes a game heartfelt?

In pursuit of these goals LaboGameStudio weaves within its games touching characters, detailed graphics, beautiful music, and climactic stories into a deep memorable experience.

As the indie scene in Japan starts to explode, LaboGameStudio strives to make games that standout and really make you think "This game was definitely worth playing".
The studio strives to create more and more games that will hopefully embed such a lasting impression on their players.

MEMENTO, developed by CreateLab and published by PLAYISM, is a compact indie horror adventure that blends survival mechanics with a narrative centered on memory, loss, and the lingering scars of conflict. Built using RPG Maker, it presents a deceptively simple exterior that gradually gives way to a more somber and introspective experience. The game follows a young girl who becomes trapped in a distorted version of reality on an island shaped by the aftermath of war, where fragments of the past manifest as hostile entities and haunting environments. From the outset, the tone is subdued and melancholic, favoring quiet unease over overt terror. The narrative is driven by the concept of memory—how it shapes identity, how it fades, and how it can persist in unexpected ways. As players explore the island, they uncover pieces of its history through environmental storytelling and brief narrative sequences. These fragments slowly build a picture of what has happened, inviting players to interpret events rather than presenting them in a straightforward manner. This approach gives the story a reflective quality, but it also means that much of its meaning is implied rather than explicitly sta…

Pros: - This game does horror well: it will have you running away from bloody machine monsters on a time limit. It's tense and frightening - Gameplay can be challenging (especially at the start, expect to die a lot)! - Element of mystery to the story Cons: - Not enough save points, or the save points are inconveniently located

=== SPOILER-FREE REVIEW === MEMENTO is an RPGmaker horror game about visiting a distant island as part of a field trip. Our grumpy teacher kindly grants us some leisure time, during which we explore the island. A pendant has fallen out of her pocket as she was snoozing. Why is she always so arrogant towards us? Why is a section of the island blocked off? Why do we pass out shortly after, and, most importantly, where are we? The answer is lying somewhere on the island... MEMENTO combines solid, cutscene-based story-telling with mediocre-at-first gameplay that results in an experience like no other. The visuals are... strange at times. I have never seen an outside scenery this pixelated. It may look odd at first, but over time, you start to notice its charm and beauty. I'd say it's a symbol of hand drawn art by a skilled artist, but this game was released before the generative AI era. The gameplay is a standard and reliable "walk-and-explore" foundation. The first quarter of the same is punishingly difficult and tedious at times. At first, I wanted to uninstall the game and give up just because of how bored I was. But after playing for over an hour, I grew attached to the g…

Short and sweet with some very impressive set-pieces and creature designs, fair warning that some parts can be frustrating but those moments don't stick around too long.

This game is fun and I enjoyed using different methods to each puzzle, the atmosphere of the game is incredible, the monster designs are creative and the story and characters are great. Its good to replay as well.
