About Minds Eyes

✦ AI summary

Explore a nightmarish home trapped in a loop of false awakenings, searching for objects and uncovering what's trapping you in an unsettling atmosphere of psychological dread. This experimental 2016 horror survey tests unconventional design choices and mechanics to research what truly frightens players and shape future horror experiences.

Please read description before playing (In short - Minds Eyes is an experimental title published in 2016 as a survey to gain an understanding of what scares players, what does not, and how to create a proper horror environment. As such, Minds Eyes uses many elements that should not normally be combined in a proper horror game. None the less, through all of your feedback, videos and discussions, I was able to transform all of the successes and failures into my subsequent titles: A Girls Fabric Face and Suit 776. To that, I thank you all! :))

Minds Eyes brings you to a world of dreams. You wake up from your slumber to constantly discover you are still asleep. You venture throughout your own home as well as some pieces of your imagination to discover who or what is keeping you at sleep. Will you ever wake up? will you ever finish the journey?

Venture through tense full moments of a chilling and nerve wrecking atmosphere that will keep you wondering "When will something happen!". Interact with the game and collect game objects which will overall affect your score in the end. Can you locate all game items?, can you make it without a single death? Check what the mind has in store.

NOTE: This game is to be played with a single sitting. The estimated game time is 30-45min.
This game also includes flashing lights. If flashing lights affect any of your medical conditions, please avoid the game.

**SO! what is Minds Eyes really? think of it as an experiment. I have developed Minds Eyes to experiment with new mechanics, features, animations, interactions, and more. Ultimately, I am using this game to gather information in order to build my ultimate horror experience. Think of it as research and development!. I will be watching a large portion of videos that you all send out to me, and note what was good and bad. With that said, If possible, please give me a full on review of the game. Tell me what you likes, disliked and/or would change. This will ultimately let me know what to, and what not to include in future projects.

I understand that this is not really an actual "game", and the transparency of the dev in the game description is the only thing keeping me from being much more upset than I could have been. I knew that this potentially wasn't going to be a great game going in. I feel like this game actually wasted 16 minutes of my time, and I didn't even finish it, so it could have wasted more if I hadn't rage quit. The "gameplay" consists of walking from room to room randomly hoping to trigger the thing that progresses the game, and those "things" usually aren't very impressive. Wander around your house until a spooky thing happens, then do it again. And again. You had better be keeping track of the layout of the house, because there is a point where the lights go out, and you get to wander around in pitch black trying to find the breaker to turn the power back on. If you somehow manage to find your way back to the breaker box in the pitch dark, you realize that the handle is now MISSING, and now you get to wander around looking for the handle, then fluke your way back to the breaker box, all in darkness. This was the point where I quit the game. If this is all there is to the game, wandering an…

I really wanted to like Minds Eyes, but it’s a major disappointment. The game drags at a painfully slow pace with endless aimless wandering, weak and predictable scares, and zero real tension. On top of that, the graphics are rough and unpolished — clunky models, muddy textures, and stiff animations that kill any atmosphere. For a short experimental horror game, it feels boring and unfinished.

Amazing, best indie horror game I've played. great story and very tense moments. The only changes i would make is, to make the loud ringing sound when u die quieter.
