At first glance Forgotten Hill might look like "We got Rusty Lake at home", but don't let that fool you, it does have a identity of it's own, even if clearly inspired by RL. The puzzles are very familiar both in what we got in similar games, so if you played other games like this, you will not have any major issues. The "No hint" achievement isn't even that hard honestly, mostly because if you played similar games, you quickly learn what is a clue/solution in the game and what puzzle they are ment to be used for. Like for example, there is a painting that has six arrows in various cardinal directions in the background in one room and in another place there are 6 dials that you can turn, or a series notches on the Left and Right side of a door and then two opbejcts you can pull in another room. Things like that.2 found this helpful
Forgotten Hill: Mementos — 8.6h played | 35/35 achievements | Steam Deck: Unknown

TL;DR — Creepy Victorian point-and-click puzzles in a “nice little town with horrible secrets” vibe. It does the job well… but if you hate pixel-hunting and that childish-yet-gross art style, you’ll suffer like I did.
Forgotten Hill: Mementos is the kind of point-and-click where you stare at a screen thinking “there’s obviously something here”… then you click on the exact wrong corner 27 times until the game finally admits you were right all along. That’s the core loop: explore, collect weird items, solve puzzles, unlock more weirdness. The atmosphere is clearly the selling point. You’re in a Victorian-flavored, rotten little community where everything feels off: secrets, rituals, unsettling characters, and that constant “something’s not human here” energy. The story is actually solid for the genre: it keeps the mystery moving, and the worldbuilding is made to feel nasty on purpose. Now the visuals. I’m not a fan of the art style: simple, almost childish, but paired with grotesque details. I can respect the idea (it makes the creepiness hit harder), but personally it…
Forgotten Hill Mementoes is a macabre and atmospheric point-and-click adventure developed and published by FM Studio, known for its distinct brand of surreal horror. Acting as a companion piece to the larger Forgotten Hill saga, this installment is structured as an anthology—a collection of eerie vignettes that dive into the strange and unsettling past of the titular town. Each story functions as a puzzle-laden window into the psychology and mysteries of Forgotten Hill’s inhabitants, exploring the darker corners of obsession, loss, and madness. While it retains the familiar mechanics of the series, Mementoes stands out for the way it weaves its short tales into a cohesive and unsettling mosaic of memories, giving the player a fuller sense of the cursed place they’ve come to know. From the first moments, the game establishes an oppressive sense of unease through its art direction and sound design. The hand-drawn, off-kilter visuals are grotesque yet oddly charming, evoking a kind of puppet-theater surrealism. Characters are rendered with vacant eyes and exaggerated expressions, while environments feel decayed and frozen in time—places where the past never truly dies. The muted colo…
For the price I didn't expect to get much game play out of this, but it actually took a couple of hours to complete and it was fun to play. Reminded me of some classic point and click games like Submachine and Rusty Lake. Plenty of puzzles to solve.
