The game ("hidden gem") is supposed to be focused on getting lost and exploring, solving (some tricky, smart) puzzles and challenges (such as timed sequences and platforming sections). Maybe no big deal for skilled gamers! :) (You can’t rebind keys and invert axis.) There are 3 main levels, divided into sub-areas. The game saves your items, but your location always goes back to the beginning of an area. The developer intent is to play through one area [or more] per sitting. So this can take 1-2 hours, or even more… But there are checkpoints within an area. What you get: Diversified level design (tropical island, desert, lava caves, underwater sections, snow-scape, etc.) with beautiful looking graphics (including day and night cycles), nice art style and lovely sound/music. (There is an option to hide the HUD, for taking screenshots! ;-)) Very kind and supportive developer, always responding to community feedback and constantly improving the game!

When I first saw the Steam store page for Veilia I was intrigued. I love a good casual game and the game promised puzzles and adventure. It also mentioned being about exploring and offering players a challenge, so I decided to take that challenge. However, I will say this right now that I disliked this game very much, however that does not make this a bad title. But full disclosure, there is a lot of walking and wandering around with long spans of time where you will be doing nothing but exploring, if this doesn’t sound fun than I caution you. The story starts off with the player controlling a nameless person who is in jail for murder with no chance of escaping. That is until Veilia shows up, a floating spirit who needs your help to regain her body. She helps you out of the jail and then you go on a journey to find shards that have been scattered around different realms. Find out the secrets behind these mystical realms and prepare to battle the sorcerer who cursed Veilia in the first place. Gameplay is where I had the biggest issue. The game thrusts you into action without much of a tutorial or any help whatsoever. You have no map, no hint system, nothing at all. Your onl…

Great art, creepy atmosphere, difficult puzzles. I'm a terrible puzzle solver so this challenged my tiny brain. It's an interesting concept of a game and I'm dying to play more of it to see what happens in the story. I am making a play-through / walk-through of it on my YouTube channel : www.youtube.com/kenaddiction You can watch the first episode here : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rKlG-vLGlyA Check it out to see if this is the game for you or just want to see the story unfold.

The gameplay is horrible. I really did try to get out of the cell by jumping on the stones but how much I tried I could not get on the second stone. Left me fraustrated. Will not play the game anymore.

Veilia is such a beautiful game. Very challenging as well, but all in all, it is a great adventure! I recommend it!

Tags: Adventure - WS - Walking Sim Additional Tags: Delete Local Content & Remove from Library TLDR: Basically a glorified repeated keyhunt through sometimes small environments with a few hotspot puzzles. Easy to lose track of objective. Platforming badly handled. Its sort of a vaguely fantasy related walking simulator with some strange WTF moments here and there. Only played for first impressions and I thought the maps needed redesign, the dialogue needed an uplift, better more interesting plot twists and tasks to accomplish would had been appreciated. On the overall for the genre it is still half decent however. Basically a glorified repeated keyhunt through sometimes small environments with a few hotspot puzzles, and sometimes across expansive empty barren environments with the odd landmark sprinkled around randomly. Sometimes hard to even know where to go or what to do next. Engine is audiovisually pleasant. The early plot hook where you trade in services for freedom works for me. Like the wisp thing and the core concept behind what it is and what it wants. In my playtest the dialogue was underdevelopped and lacked credibility. Everything just felt too bare and too empty. To…
