Veil of Mist

Overall a disappointing experience. I will admit I was very excited about this game when I saw it. Having played Ember Wing's last game - Lost Luminosity - I was hopeful this would be similar in scale and scare-factor. Unfortunately, the game has very few scares, and is just a tedious mess of being chased by a WAY-too aggressive monster. I've played hundreds of horror games, and one thing that 100% is NOT scary or fun, is being chased by a monster that is always faster than you, you can't escape, and can't really avoid. This, paired with the actual lack of tension, zero jumpscares (well-placed or otherwise), and tedious and nonsensical puzzles make this a thumbs down for me. Oh, also the game is littered with AI slop art, and even the stream achievements are AI-gen. I wouldn't be surprised if the voices in-game were as well.

**Veil of Mist** was... alright. I went into this one with fairly high expectations because it's from the same developer that made *Lost Luminosity*, a game I really enjoyed. Naturally, I was hoping for a similar experience. Unfortunately, this one didn't quite hit the same mark for me. That's not to say it's a bad game—it definitely isn't. It just never reached the level I was hoping for. One of the biggest differences is the pacing. While *Lost Luminosity* focused more on atmosphere and building suspense, *Veil of Mist* leans much more into constant chase sequences. It felt like I spent a large portion of the game running from danger instead of exploring or slowly uncovering the mystery. If that's the style of horror you enjoy, you may have a better experience than I did. The story was another area where I felt a little underwhelmed. It never really grabbed my attention, and by the end, I wasn't especially invested in what was happening. It wasn't confusing—it just didn't leave much of an impression on me. Very difficult in certain areas but was rewarding to complete. Might want to add an brightness/gamma slider or raise the flashlight a bit, some of the areas are way too dark.
