Just to let others know; This game is a dead - Early Access game - tech demo at best - be warned, very very little content.

Vanguard V (I suppose V is for Valkyrie) is different from any other shooter for VR I ever tried (and I tried almost all of them). The actually unavaliable Holo Impact: Prologue was the best one in my opinion in translating the shoot'em up feeling of coinops for VR, even if - like many hidden pearls for VR - unknown to many. After Vanguard V I have to set my standard even higher, because it's a sort of jump 20 years in the past when I get my Lylat Wars copy (Starfox 64 name in Europe) with the first vibration tool ever made for a controller. IMPORTANT: This is NOT a full, or half full game at the moment, as a potential buyer you should know than this is a sort of tech demo to help funding the project (final game will costs 30$ and should be avaliable in Spring 2018). Don't buy this if you're not interested in this, o you expect weekly addons with new contents. Vanguard V uses a very original control method, than can be played with or without motion controllers, I suppose with the goal to make the game avaliable for many kind of VR platforms. It seems to work equally well with both, but need some time to get used: you see your character from behind, and you can move or move/aim us…

The game is only 2 levels and 10-15 minutes long. Maybe $2 would be a better price? There are also a lot of problems with controls, it looks like this game was made for DK2 and hasnt been updated since then. Updates are very sparse so i'm guessing this game is dead :(

Vanguard V was the very first VR game I ever played on Google Cardboard. I was super impressed and it was one of the experiences that made me buy the VIVE. This PC version is way better in every way. The control is unique in that you control the character with your head and the guns with your hands. The music is great. It looks great. There are voiceovers. There is a lot of potential here. It's far too short. I beat the 3 parts available in Early Access in one sitting. I think this is one of those games that could be a classic. When people talk about early VR they will mention this game.

Vanguard V is an intriguing relic from the earlier years of consumer virtual reality, built around a simple but appealing fantasy: flying freely through science-fiction environments while fighting an extraterrestrial threat. Developed and published by ZeroTransform, it entered Early Access with ambitions of becoming a larger VR action-adventure. What remains today is considerably smaller than that original vision, but the foundation still demonstrates some creative thinking about how speed, movement, and combat can work inside virtual reality. Instead of placing the player behind the controls of a complicated spacecraft, the game makes flight itself the attraction. You soar through environments while engaging hostile forces known as the Parasites, producing an experience closer to an arcade action game than a realistic flight simulator. This approach makes the controls relatively easy to understand and allows the game to concentrate on movement, spectacle, and the physical sensation of traveling quickly through a three-dimensional space. Players expecting detailed aircraft systems or simulation mechanics should therefore adjust their expectations, as the design is focused much mor…

I'll still approve of this game, but seeing that there has been no comments or updates to this game since I first played it, it's hard to know what happen or what could have been an amazing experience in VR, it just seems like there isn't anything here anymore aside from the beta experience.
