About Until the last

✦ AI summary

Until the last is a first-person indie horror game where you play as detective Mark Fane investigating the sinister mysteries of Lone Way park while evading threats and uncovering one of four different endings based on your actions. The game stands out through its randomized item placement and unpredictable environmental events like flickering lights and sudden rain, plus a dynamic flashlight system where you must maintain or repair your light source to survive.

"Until the last" - this is first-person indie horror which takes place in the park called "Lone way". You will play a private detective Mark Fane, and the main challenge is to understand what is going on in the park. In addition to this you should not allow attackers to bring their plans into reality and, of course, try to get out of this place safe and sound. There are four different endings of the story. They depend on the task performances.
Features:
- Almost every item you have to find while playing the game is randomly located at one of several possible places. In addition, there are other possibilities in the game which do not depend on the player, such as on / off and even broken lights along the road or rain that could suddenly start at any time. This makes the game unpredictable.
-Besides flashlight batteries discharge you can also damage your flashlight. To repair it you have to find the appropriate tool or go with an alternative light source until the end of the game. Every option has its advantages.

Until the last is widely criticized by players as a poorly polished, low-effort asset flip featuring frustrating RNG-heavy gameplay, unclear storytelling, and unbalanced enemy design that results in cheap deaths. The main complaints center on items being randomly hidden requiring specific discovery order, a broken flashlight mechanic, a nonsensical narrative (possibly due to poor translation), and a main antagonist that is either laughably ineffective or unfairly overpowered. Players consistently advise against purchasing this game, viewing it as shovelware not worthy of its asking price.

The good! - Uh, it works. Mostly. Sort of. - It is technically, in some sense of the term, a game. The bad. - Enemies are everywhere and all except the main baddie just instantly jumpscare + damage you with no warning. The main baddie, on the other hand, is totally laughable and spends most of his time stuck on terrain or generally ignoring you. Unless he doesn't, in which case he's actually impossible to outrun and survive. - The game is basically a pseudo-randomized scavanger hunt in the spoopy woods - basically Slender. Unlike Slender, you have to find everything in a specific order ... meaning, statistically speaking, you'll almost always find the wrong thing first and just get frustrated. - Has actually the single worst jumpscare ever. Seriously I'm easy AF to jumpscare and I laughed at it. That is, however, the most fun I had while playing. THE VERDICT If you like bad indie horror games set in creepy forests just go play Slender, it's at least competent. Video first impressions: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/186745822

Not a good game. The RNG sucks, items are often hidden far away from the path and you just won't find them. Also the monster walks and kills you to fast and he seems to teleport himself. So you will die a lot of cheap deaths.

Until the last is some pretty lazy Russian shovelware, ostensibly it's a Digital Homicide style asset flip, or what Valve calls a "Fake Game". The "developer" slapped together a few stock 3D models/Unity assets, dumped them all in a blender with a lulzy, very poorly made map and simple gameplay loop to make a first person adventure with the occasional jump scare. Then submitted it to Valve as if they're real game developers. This probably took the best part of a day to put together, it's extremely lazy and low quality, very buggy, and most certainly a shovelware cash grab from Russia. To emphasize how little effort there is, I can go over the entire game in full detail in just a very short paragraph. It's a small map with two monsters that will give you harmless jumpscares or hurt you (the boy and girl that you can learn about if you read any of the 5 pickup texts). You have a battery powered torch you can use to deter the boy/monster. There's a bomb you must disarm, by collecting either a phone or a set of pliers (both randomly placed), then going to the bomb (around the middle of the map). Then you just go back to the start and end the game. You can finish this game wit…

Until the last, developed and published by NedoStudio, is a first-person indie horror experience that blends environmental exploration with survival mechanics and fragmented storytelling. Set primarily within the unsettling confines of Lone Way Park, the game places players in the role of a private investigator drawn into a case that slowly unravels into something far darker than initially expected. Rather than relying on heavy action or cinematic spectacle, the game leans into mood, unpredictability, and vulnerability as its primary tools of tension. The narrative premise is straightforward: the protagonist, Mark Fane, arrives at the park to investigate a mysterious disappearance following a cryptic call. From that moment onward, the story unfolds through exploration rather than exposition. There are no extended cutscenes or lengthy dialogue sequences to guide the player; instead, context is pieced together from environmental cues and scattered hints. This minimalist storytelling approach aims to immerse players directly into the mystery, though it requires patience and interpretation rather than delivering clear narrative direction. Atmosphere plays a central role in shaping th…

Ok well I wish that I could have properly played this but there are bugs to work out and it wasn't very polished. I'm not sure if the notes/dialogue were written in English or poorly translated but I did not know what exactly was happening or why. The first time I loaded the game I was immediately attacked and killed by a troll. I thought I was defusing a bomb??? The second time I loaded the game I went along the very dark path because my flashlight literally only stays on for three seconds and then no longer works. Then my character will light a lighter, which also stays on for about three seconds and then no longer works. I found a couple of notes that were...unclear but it seems there was a biological experiment gone awry? What does that have to do with the bomb? After reading the notes, the movement controls are locked so you have to switch to another mode to move and then once you do, they work again. So i take a few steps and then a girl pops up and jump scares you with a stock-scream asset. She had plenty of texture to her face but her entire body was all one color and clearly not finished and I'm not sure what/who she was or why she was there or why she was screaming at…

Heavy RNG (as many comments say), Monster is stupid, idk, good for a first time project but i'm not sure if it has a place on the steam store. Also 5 euros for something so short is not worth it.
