About Scribble Ships

Scribble Ships is a 2D Arcade shooter with personality. Survive the onslaught of colorless enemies using one of the five playable ships, each with their own strengths and weaknesses. But wait, lets not draw the line there. Don't feel like being restricted? Then go ahead and draw your very own ship using the in-game custom ship maker. The game features eight types of enemies and five challenging bosses. How long will you survive? Don't be a pen pusher, climb the global leaderboards! Did a friend beat your score? Back to the drawing board! This is our very first game, so if you find any bugs, please report them to us, and we will pencil them in.

✦ AI summary

Players appreciate the cute core concept of drawing your own ship, but criticize poor execution across multiple areas. The main complaints focus on limited drawing tools lacking zoom and undo functions, confusing UI with unexplained mechanics, and unclear health/status bars that don't communicate their purpose or changes during gameplay. Additionally, custom-drawn ships suffer from weak stat distribution making them unviable in combat, creating a disconnect between the creative premise and actual gameplay viability.

This game needs work. It's a cute idea on paper (HAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAAHAHAHHHSBHFKDVSKDVEIFJNLVSB), but the execution fell flat. The main gimmick is getting to draw your own ship, but the drawing tool is limited. It needs a zoom feature, an undo feature, and the ability to switch stats. Any ship you draw gets the weakest stat distribution, so you die in one hit. But I drew Reimu Hakurei, so that worked out. Nothing is explained in the game. The ships and what they do have explanations, but in the actual gameplay, you know nothing. You don't even know your remaining health because it's not shown! I see the red bar at the top, but what does it do? What does it keep track of? I never see it go down when I get hit! It only goes up! And what does the blue bar next to it do? Is THAT my health? Is it my gas?!?!?! Apparently, this game was a Kickstarter project. I get that it was made by one dude, but what was his goal? Ten dollars and a day-old Big Mac? I've played games that cost as much as this one that have more depth, like Celeste when it goes on sale. Do you remember being a kid and getting a Happy Meal that came with one of those Sonic LCD games that had two buttons and did the…

I am 32 years old. My ex-wife and I have a daughter together, and we adopted our son together. Both are now 4 years old. When we were going through our separation, I felt lost and unhappy. I was self-destructive. One day, I was so angry with everything spiraling out of control that I punched a concrete wall in a moment of overwhelming emotion. This resulted in breaking my fifth metacarpal in my right hand—the hand I worked with, played games with, and used to carry my children to bed—the hand I desperately needed to ensure I could continue providing. Upon learning the severity of the self-inflicted damage, I became almost suicidal. Keep in mind that just a few months before this, I was the happiest man, with no history of depression or anxiety. I had never experienced anger outbursts, nor was I the type to break down and cry, but I was in a tough situation that truly prevented me from seeing the light on the other side. With nothing better to do, I looked for a game I could play WITH ONE HAND while recovering. Somehow, I stumbled upon this game and read some of the comments. I decided it was worth a try... I must admit I didn't beat the game, nor did I play as much as some of y…
