A great mix between a puzzle game and a side scrolling shooter. Funny and entertaining, this game deserves more love. Try it.

Galacide is an inventive arcade title developed and published by Puny Human that boldly fuses classic shoot ’em up action with real-time puzzle mechanics, creating an experience that constantly demands attention, adaptability, and multitasking. Rather than committing fully to either genre, the game thrives in the tension between them, asking players to manage frantic space combat while simultaneously manipulating puzzle elements under pressure. This hybrid identity gives Galacide a distinct personality, one that feels deliberately chaotic but also carefully designed to reward players who can think and react at the same time. At its foundation, Galacide places the player in control of a spacecraft navigating hostile space sectors filled with enemy ships, environmental hazards, and an ever-encroaching structure known as the Bitwall. Combat initially resembles a traditional top-down arcade shooter, with enemies swarming the screen and projectiles filling the air. However, survival is not determined by firepower alone. As enemies are destroyed, they leave behind colored scrap that must be collected and used to manipulate the Bitwall, which functions as a shifting puzzle barrier blocki…

If you love tetris, and shmups.... well, it is a no brainer. Graphics are amazing, very cool little game u got here. It definitely needs more attention for the player, i would say, the game is more about getting through the colored bits than combat, so japanese shmup fans won't be satisfied, but if u re more into puzzles, and euro-shmups, thats definitely a good choice - also features an endless play mode. Approved.

Galacide is a blend of a Match 4 puzzle game meets old-school shmup. It’s very well made, but ultimately fails to hold my attention even for the length of a full level. My limited playtime involves 3 separate times as I gave it another shot and beat a level… but always ended feeling the same way. Bored. (Despite the low playtime, I’m at the halfway point in the game) You control a ship in classic Shmup style shooting enemies and dodging their shots. Instead of terrain, walls of colored blocks spawn in the distance. Each enemy you destroy drops items that fire blocks of your own. Matching sets of 4+ blocks explode and clear a path for you to move forward. Theoretically, the core mechanics seem like they should work, but in practice, its oil and water. As a shmup, Galacide is extremely slow and claustrophobic. A relatively small number of enemies spawn in, get blasted by your overpowered weapon, and leave you to navigate whatever random path you were able to clear in the blocks. It has neither strong combat nor strong level designers that make each stage feel fun and exciting. As a puzzle game, I find myself wrestling with the controls because it’s just too cluttered.
