Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood

Techlands's 2009 prequel to their original Call of Juarez strives to make everything bigger, longer, better and more consistently so. This time we play as the McCall brothers. From their days in the confederate army to their days as freeroaming bandits and their eventual falling out. Learning from the shortcomings of their previous game, we can now select which character we want to play every chapter as. Stealth is no longer mandatory, lasso has been streamlined, the long linear levels are sprinkled with a couple of open world segments on horseback with a basic shop and bounties. The pacing is perfectly finetuned so neither action packed nor quiet moment drag on for too long. Theres an interesting automatic cover system, it activates by crouching proximity to any surface and gradually controlled by mouse movement. Somehow it works far better than it should. An absolute gem of a cowboy game.

Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood is a really fun western shooter with a good story and some great gunfights. The two brothers, Ray and Thomas, are both interesting to play and their different abilities keep things from getting repetitive. The story is pretty simple but still keeps you interested, and the western setting fits the game really well. The graphics and gameplay are a bit dated, but the shooting still feels good. Some missions can get repetitive, but overall it’s a solid game and definitely worth playing if you like westerns or shooters. **8/10**

Game was okay but the duels are basically unplayable

if you've played gunslinger first, this will just feel terrible, clunky, and boring. if you haven't, you might enjoy it.
