✦ AI summary

Nanotale - Typing Chronicles is a typing game that features enjoyable core gameplay with clever puzzles and appealing aesthetics, but is undermined by significant technical issues including glitches, map-falling bugs, and terrain collision problems that worsen toward the end. Players praise the music and graphics, and find the typing mechanics themselves satisfying, yet criticize the weak story, forgettable characters, lack of guidance on new mechanics, and overall sense that quality declined during development. Most reviewers suggest picking it up only during a sale rather than at full price.

The end of the game just ruins the experience for me and I'm glad I only paid $5 for this. So, the story is nonsensical and studying plants will sometimes throw names of people at you that you haven't even met yet, so that's pretty lazy. Characters essentially are just trying to get you from point A to point B; there's no reason to care about any of them and none of them really have any emotions to them. The usual gameplay loop is pretty fun, though, and there are definitely some clever puzzles. But also some very frustrating and obtuse ones. And I guess they were on a time crunch or stopped caring or something by the time you get to the desert. This is where you'll start to fall through the map pretty often, and the game refuses to hint at you about new mechanics. And the new mechanics aren't even consistent, either. Sometimes fire would burn away the dry grass, but you're actually supposed to use WIND to get rid of it. Zero hint to that being the answer, either; you're just supposed to spam every ability you have and hope something works. That's so cheap. And I think the fire burning parts of it was actually a glitch! But how am I to know that? I assumed that was…

Nanotale - Typing Chronicles is a typing game. Both Epistory and Nanotale are relatively fun games and I adore typing games, but wow is this one infinitely buggy. I just finished the campaign and frankly, I am disappointed. The music and the graphics are really great, the story is good, everything is fine... But QA your games please! I started this game four years ago and stopped playing for a reason I can't remember. Coming back to it I decided to start fresh and I can see some reasons I would've stopped playing. First of all, it's so hard to know where to go next: there are tons of puzzles and for some you need unlocks, it's kind of a typing/puzzle/Metroidvania/adventure game! The terrain zap/ice spells create are super glitchy and you constantly get stuck into them. Your fox also gets stuck on a lot of terrain where you need to dismount in order to continue. There are many parts of the game where you run into invisible walls or obstacles, especially during desert boss fights and some other areas as well. Talking about the desert... even with a GTX 4060 (a high-end graphics card) I had to lower my resolution to 720P and my graphics to very low to fix a redundant crash that wou…

Overall had a good time playing. Here are some pros and cons. (+) The spell casting in this game is very fun, especially as it's been more incorporated into the battle system. Because it's a typing game, you really feel like you have to chain together spoken incantations to perform your magic. (+) Playing through the plot is very linear, but the map is fairly sprawling. Thank goodness for the ability to run. I like the variety in the biomes. (-) The game is VERY buggy: -- Monsters you hit at the edge of the screen will sometimes glitch and jitter. -- Crossing bridges that you've made of spells is very frustrating sometimes because the avatar will just get stuck on the texture, which seems rather silly. -- I once held open the quick map accidentally during a cut scene, and then it wouldn't go away until I restarted the game. -- I fought a boss that got stuck, unable to proceed to the next cycle, because I didn't hit it in time on that round. (-) (Very minor point, but not sure why you have to type the same word again when you log a scientific observation. Surely there would be more than 2-3 words available.) (-) I have to be honest: the ending was lackluster. Aside from the writ…

Full of lovely, aesthetic details. Overall, a fun, cute, way to work on my WPM. Great if you are looking for an adventure while you exercise your home row skills.
Nanotale delivers a fun time that doesn't quite follow up the predecessor Epistory, it just needed a more solid foundation in order to even match. It's still a fun game, but it does warrant the "warning."
I did like 'Nanotale,' it continues what 'Epistory' does, not the story itself as it's more of an anthology here, but the game design itself. It's interesting and cool to see, however and I mean a big HOWEVER this does almost everything worse than the previous title. It just fumbles the bag in a lot of areas, but it still is a fun time and if you liked the previous game you'll probably enjoy this too. Below I will list pros and cons as I think it'll be easier to list and to read as well. Probably more cons as the game is significantly worse than the previous game. I am not categorizing since it's still comparing 'Nanotale' to 'Epistory' for the most part so even though you'll understand, this is how I'm doing it.
+ = Good and - = Bad.
+The game itself feels much smoother to control than Epistory. The animations are smoother so it doesn't feel clunky, you get to navigate faster right from the get-go, etc. -Navigating the maps can be a chore espe…
