Monaco: What's Yours Is Mine

Monaco isn't just one of the best co-op games ever made. This little bastard kicks the door down, steals your wallet, blows up your expectations, and then politely asks if you'd like to play another round. YES. OBVIOUSLY. This is a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ hallmark of excellence. Original? Absolutely. Beautifully designed? You bet your ass. Good-looking? Hell yes. Well-written? Surprisingly as ♥♥♥♥. Challenging? Enough to make your friends question your ancestry. Playable? Like digital crack. Immersive? So much that you'll forget you're sitting on your ass staring at a screen. This is everything a great game should ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ be. And co-op? OH BOY. Grab some friends and prepare for the most beautifully coordinated ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ imaginable. One guy sneaks in. Another guy screws up. Someone triggers an alarm. Everybody starts running. The entire plan collapses into glorious chaos. And somehow you're all laughing your asses off while desperately trying to escape with your stolen loot. That's Monaco. While the game is great, and I really enjoyed it. I wouldn't recommend simply because the controller support is terrible. I understand that this game came out in 2013, but if you're looking for a local co-op game, I hope you have an xbox 360 controller lying around because that's the only kind of controller it will support. The game itself is fun and worth 20 AUD. Another note for completionists, this game requires 3 people minimum to play with you and one of them to be online, in order to get 100% achievements, which can be frustrating. I would change this review to positive if modern controller support was patched in, which I understand would be a low-priority issue for a small team like Pocketwatch Games.

Great game

Monaco is a funky little obscure indie game that experienced a cult of love in its heyday, even if its sequel crushed that cult in a moment. It's still worth getting, though, given its interesting, aesthetic (and more than anything, fun) take on the top-down 2D stealth heist genre.
