Ninja Shodown

Very tough arena platformer. If tough is your thing, this one is a definite recommend! In Ninja Shodown you have to defeat a certain amount of enemies each level, which spawn throughout said level. The game has very good sound, music, and presentation. It goes for an authentic eighties arcade vibe. The difficulty included, as if to ask for another quarter after you die again. Personally I didn't like this game, and the friends with whom I played this with thought it was a bit too hard as well. This game is about fast-paced ninja arena fights. The fast movement speed of the ninja characters and one-hit-die vitality make the play more challenging. It could be a good casual game if not for its dullness and repetitive gameplay, of which an arena game could easily fall into. The game is somehow too simple to attract gamers. Nevertheless, the ninja protagonist's actions (movement, jumping, wall hanging) look good. The developer could have further developed it into an action game like Ninja Ryukenden (Ninja Gaiden) instead. By the way, there is no game exit button available in the main menu. You just have to forcefully close the game window instead. What a terrible mistake.
