✦ AI summary

Men of Valor is a 2004 Vietnam War shooter that players appreciate for its nostalgic value, solid soundtrack, voice acting, and cover-based gameplay mechanics, though opinions sharply divide on whether it holds up today. Common complaints center on dated design, inconsistent and punishing difficulty that doesn't scale properly across settings, repetitive mission structure, and janky AI that can frustrate progression, though some players find it challenging enough to remain engaging on medium difficulty.

Never played this game before, reminds me of Battlefield Vietnam but with more realism.

I'm happy that someone bothered to make my childhood Murica propaganda game playable on PC in 2026. The game is super nostalgic for me. However that's about all it is - the game its self is super dated and not great. Also this version is quite jank. Had to delete the cutscene files as they crashed the game. The difficulty was terrible. The hard, medium, easy selectors do nothing. Enemies shoot through corners and with a completely random accuracy. Sometimes you're safe standing in front of 3 enemies for like 10 seconds and sometimes you get instantly killed, full to 0 in less than half a second of peaking an enemies. There's no rhyme or reason to it. The last level in the last chapter has a more than 50% chance of soft-locking because the game doesn't spawn in enough enemies to hit a trigger - In the section right before you have to carry your little brother. Unless you're buying this for nostalgia or as a case study, don't. The game falls far behind modern shooters.

I thought this would be pretty bad based on the negative reviews. There are valid points, but a few thoughts A: There are no bugs and this game runs perfectly (not common for these old games) B: Great soundtrack voice acting, writing, and environmental design. C: I love having ADS and this game doesn't have it. I thought that would bother me a lot more than it did. You get used to it very quickly D: The gameplay is repetitive, but I didn't mind. It is challenging enough to stay interesting. On medium difficulty it is fun without being too hard or easy. Most people complaining about difficulty are probably playing on Hard.

This game is dissapointingly bad. It starts off alright with the first 'operation' (campaign chapter), and then immediately nosedives into the most bland and derivative shooter possible. At a glance, the core structure of this game isn't bad; there's decent shooting mechanics, a simple health system and simpler missions played with a squad of, again, simpler AI friendlies. However, every single one of those things is completely and utterly ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up here. The shooting is a boring rhythm of tap-firing at the heads of static enemies, the health system severely gimps the shooting in missions which are nothing but vapid shooting galleries, and the friendly AI is seemingly just there to piss you off. While trudging through the jungles (corridors), wetlands (corridors), rice paddies (corridors), and cityscapes (corridors) of Vietnam, your artificial comrades are sure to be standing in your way and doing nothing to actually assist you — if they are not in your way, they are crouched by cover and all but catatonic. Your adversaries are much more threatening, materialising out of forest brush and concrete walls in front of, next to or behind you at any given moment. Playing Men of V…

THE VIETNAMISE MEDAL OF HONOR
Set in vietnam, you walk through the experience of Sheppard and his mates. The story is linear and your main task is one : You need to assess the environment and then jump from cover to cover, using the zoom focus/lean to peak enemies and clear a path to the next bit of cover to complete the objectives ; You can easily die if the area is not clear when moving to more cover It uses well distant checkpoints to increase the difficulty ; i don't recommend it to easily-raging players. For a 2004 Unreal 2.0 game however, it does quite well for graphics, AI and gameplay and it's still entertaining, considering its release date. Works well on windows 11 , consider reading the guides on PCgamingWiki to optimize it. The multiplayer is dead because the master server has been shut down, so if you want to make some kills online, you have to use third party softwares like hamachi.
