Boiling Bolt, developed by Persistant Studios and published by Dear Villagers, is a fast-paced vertically scrolling shoot ’em up that blends classic arcade gameplay with modern presentation and a few inventive mechanics. At its core, the game follows the traditions of old-school shooters where quick reflexes, precise movement, and memorization of enemy attack patterns determine survival. However, Boiling Bolt attempts to modernize this formula with dynamic environments, a cinematic bullet-time mechanic, and a visually rich sci-fi world. The result is a stylish shooter that captures the intensity of arcade classics while introducing elements designed to make the experience feel fresh and visually striking. The narrative takes place in a distant future where Earth has been shattered into floating fragments of land suspended in the sky. These fragments remain stable thanks to powerful energy crystals that sustain the fragile ecosystems of the surviving islands. For centuries, civilization has rebuilt itself around these floating territories, but the balance is threatened when a mysterious enemy faction begins draining the crystals’ energy for its own purposes. Players assume the role…

Dull and awkward. While there's some nice presentation, there's basically no good gameplay here.
