Starkheim Tournament s a love little fighting game for all of us nostalgia-driven retro arcade fans. The groundwork is really solid, and it avoids many of the pitfalls that indie fighting game developers sometimes fall into. There is definetly a "mastering" element to the gameplay, and I can only image how intense it can get when/if an online matchmaking or ladder gets added. Its obviously early access but still, the game shows a lot of promise. Even just the faded out characters in the character selection screen gets me all excited for continued updates for this gem, like I'm a 10 year old kid again trying to unlock Gon in Tekken after I heard a playground rumour that there was a little dinosaur on the game. The future looks bright for Starkheim Tournament! I'll be tuned in the whole way!

Just played quite a few rounds with my buddy over Steam Share and it is quite a fun game! The bones are all there for a great 2D fighter. Some things don't make sense but it is early access and will only get better with time.

This game is very fun! It is easy to play in a good way. I was easily able to hand the controller to a friend who hadn't played it before and they'd get it very quickly and have a hard time putting it down. It oozes with style and personality, sprite work is great and there's cool voice acting. Characters are fun and interesting. All of my issues with the game are things that I expect to get added in the future but if I were to list them out it would be: Being able to map dashing to a button, online play, more ways to engage in the story, more character interactions and of course more characters. For how polished it is right now in it's early days of early access it's easy to assume even more greatness awaits in the future! I highly reccommend the game if you have some friends to play with locally!

Been introducing this to people at my fgc locals and they've been having a decent time. Runs well on Steam Deck plugged into a monitor. Hope you guys keep at it, shame about the small amount of reviews.

Pretty fun indie fighter with a lot of soul.
