About Open Roads

One fine fall day, Tess Devine and her mother, Opal, discover a cache of old notes and letters carefully stashed away in the attic of their house. Hints of deep-rooted family secrets, decades-old burglaries, a lost treasure somewhere near the Canadian border... What they uncover suggests a much darker mystery, best left well enough alone.

But that’s not going to happen.

In Open Roads, Tess and Opal embark on a road trip adventure to explore a series of long-abandoned family properties, unearthing the past. They’ll search the ruins of these places that hold buried memories, things Opal has tried for years to forget. And in this search, they'll discover not just the truth they've been seeking, but each other.

Featuring star performances by Keri Russell (The Americans, Star Wars: Rise of Skywalker) and Kaitlyn Dever (Booksmart, Uncharted 4).

Features:
• Experience the story of Open Roads as 16-year-old Tess Devine, on a road trip with her mother to discover what has been left behind in evocative places forgotten to time.
• Bask in classic road trip vibes as you chill in the car en route to your next destination, fiddling with the radio and chatting with your mom.
• A groundbreaking art style melds detailed first-person environments with beautifully hand-animated characters, bringing the adventure to life.
• A unique and engaging interactive dialogue system moves the narrative along, exposing character flaws, secrets, and buried truths.

open roads was a game that felt really good after playing many long games and it became a game that will stay in my mind for a long time. at the beginning of the game i thought i would just find old letters and secrets and finish the game, but as i played more i realized that the game was about much more than that. i think the relationship between tess and her mother was the best part of the game. seeing them slowly open up about the things they had kept from each other made their relationship feel very real. sometimes they feel very close to each other and sometimes they feel distant, and i think this makes their relationship much more meaningful and natural. in the end, the game is not only about a big mystery, but also about how people cannot completely escape their past. no matter how far we go, some memories will always stay with us. i think people who enjoy character focused and calm stories should give this journey a chance.

A slow paced and relaxing narrative based game, which takes you on a nostalgic journey. Visually, the game is beautifully unique, with the characters and the worlds being in two different art styles. It took me 3hrs to complete and I am the type of player that looks at everything possible and collects all the achievements. Although the game is quite short, it is still worth it in my opinion.

The story was well-written with plot-twists and secrets, the voice acting brought us into the story, it was like watching a short film. But Opal's small hands were REALLY distracting, I CANNOT. 😔

I liked this one! There was one postcard early-ish in the game that revealed the entire solution to the mystery (imo), but I still enjoyed reaching the end and seeing the conclusion come to light. If I could change anything about it I would take away some of the pointless interactions (like picking up a plate or a knife for no reason) and add some extra story/side elements to the items. Now if only every complex family scenario/conflict had a great ending like this one...

super fun game

i have pretty mixed feelings about this game, i thought the story was intriguing and the art style was very cute. however there's only 3 hours of content total in the game and its $20. i lucked out and purchased it during the summer sale, but if you're looking for a cozy game wait to buy it at a discounted price or find something else that offers more than what this game is. i really wished there was more content, maybe a continued storyline about the mystery character or maybe the younger sister or dad. the re-playability of the game isn't there for me, there's no mini-puzzles or anything its find small objects and dialogue cutscenes.
