Battle for Vera

This would be a "neutral" review if they didn't all have to be thumbs-up or thumbs-down. I think it's an interesting take on Dune 2, and you can see from my avatar that I'm a fan of Dune 2. The thing is, I hate micro, and see it as a gameplay defect rather than a feature, and this game is much heavier on micro than Dune 2 or Command & Conquer were. So, I'm not really enjoying it, but if you enjoy micro (as most RTS players do) then you'll probably have a good time.

Great game! Dune 2 with Starcraft controls (best RTS control-scheme IMO). Hope there is a sequel (with the same pixel graphics) which has coop missions, a map editor, and replays. Call me old or whatever, but I really love this art style. I really hope more devs make 2D RTS games instead of those ugly Unity/Unreal Engine 3D RTS games where, honestly, the graphics aren't as timeless as isometric 2D sprites. Also, I wish more RTS games used a standard starcraft-like control scheme. Having to relearn controls for every RTS is why I think the genre doesn't become more popular. FPS games have a standard control scheme that translate to all other FPS games, but for RTS it just seems to be the wild west when it comes to the controls.

Fun game with a very tough campaign - for me at least. It felt like the enemy waves were coming in full force every 45 seconds or so on some maps. Thankfully, cheating was pretty simple :) Recommended!

It's Dune 2, in a more mobile/tablet kind of way (since there is no res settings (>.<)) The usual 'let's duplicate a beloved game, and not bother putting some quality into it'. And FYI the achievements are set to stupid for the kind of game this is.

Overall a much superior experience to the original Dune 2. It is a great game. The music is great, the voice lines are nice. The economy is interesting, different from Dune 2 and the Command and Conquers but fun to play with. The game is visually appealing. I do have some complaints. 1. The path finding leaves much to be desired. Units often block each other and force each other to take longer paths needlessly. Especially bad in choke points or when getting into fights. 2. Infantry units overall feel a bit weak. Low hit points combined with decent damage taken from tank cannons leads infantry to die pretty fast. They also lack a way to heal their hp, a weakness vehicles don't have thanks to bots. I will say the Bio Nexus Tox Troopers rock. 3. Terra Prima's Bombers from the Air Pad feel rather unreliable. The damage isn't great, and the bombers bomb whatever they like instead of what you tell them to bomb. Complaints aside, the game was fun and challenging start to finish with all 3 campaigns as well as the scenarios. It has my recommendation.
