About Battlezone 98 Redux
One of the greatest sci-fi strategy games of all time returns Spring 2016 with remastered visuals, online multiplayer, and near unlimited mod content from Steam Workshop.
Enter an alternate vision of the 1960s where the “space race” is nothing more than a cover for an interplanetary war between the US and Soviet Russia over mysterious alien bio-metal.
Take command of an army of sleek heavy assault tanks, strike cruisers, APCs and more, and wreak havoc with super-heated projectiles in your mission to blast your enemy from the face of the Moon, Mars, Venus, Titan, Io and Europa.
Scavenge the battlefields for crucial bio-metal, deploy powerful defenses, construct advanced facilities and escalate each battle to an epic confrontation.
Revolutionary, revitalised and remastered, Battlezone 98 Redux’s blend of thrilling first person action and tense RTS gameplay is as essential now as it ever was.

My perspective on Battlezone 98 is hopelessly biased. I've been playing it since 1998, which means I've spent nearly three decades coming back to the same game. At this point, it feels less like a title I've played and more like a place I've visited repeatedly throughout my life. Even so, I think Battlezone remains one of the most interesting strategy games ever made. Its central idea was remarkably bold: combine a first-person combat game with a real-time strategy game, then force the player to operate both layers simultaneously. You're not sitting above the battlefield issuing orders from a god's-eye view. You're down in the mud, driving a tank, fighting for your life, gathering resources, constructing bases, and directing an entire war effort from the cockpit. What makes Battlezone special is the constant tension between the tactical and strategic levels of play. At any given moment, you're fighting the enemy directly in front of you while also deciding where your scavengers should harvest, what your factories should build next, where your defenses should be established, and how your forces should be deployed. Few games have managed to blend those responsibilities so natur…11 found this helpful

great, if only some controls were tweaked this could be a scartcraft but with the player in the field1 found this helpful
This was not very fun in my humble opinion. i give it a 6/10 at best. the gameplay is not very complex and the difficulty spikes (even on very easy difficulty) were a bit much towards the end of the campaign. Maybe the multiplayer is better? either way, it is very dated in terms of gameplay and mission design (repetitive and unimaginative)1 found this helpful
Can't rebind the 'jump' key to 'space'. I know programmers are not designers or gamers, but is anyone really that stupid? Also, don't seem to be able to bind Mouse1 to fire?1 found this helpful
It is good.
