Visually & aesthetically great, but the gameplay is obtuse and honestly feels confused. There's good ideas at the very core, but the actual execution of them is poor and makes playing feel clunk and kind of basic. However, this is an early access game, so I will return later to see if it has improved and potentially change this review. For now though, I can't recommend.

Update: 26hrs The beginning of this game is actually a slog and it does get better after you unlock a character or two. ----- Over 5 hours played with the demo, but the game isn't fun even after moving through the skill tree. It's entirely frustrating to make progress in the game and you get tired of the same playstyle long before you get to try any other characters. Unless you've seen a video or watched a guide beforehand I would suggest looking elsewhere because you'll be wasting a lot of time if you go in blind. I would dare say that most casual gamers, which I think this audience suits the aesthetic, will never unlock any of the other characters due to how taxing progressing using the star unlock system is. If you don't mesh with the playstyle of the initially unlocked character then you may as well leave because you are stuck with them until you unlock a certain upgrade just to attempt to be able to unlock the other characters, and that is if you have the patience to slog through just the one character. Dying feels unfair, losing 90% of your rewards from dying feels awful, and progression feels like a chore. If this is aimed at a casual audience I would recommend a pity sy…

Great artwork and pleasant animations filigree the white-knuckle tension that accompanies the pursuit of high-rolling gambles. It's tons of fun to roll the bones~! Edit: I also spent my first 37 hours in the game not realizing that I could bank before hitting the level goal, which is a tough way to play, and I was still having fun.
