Backspace Bouken

Funny name for a game! Although... Most of the time you CAN use your backspace. XD I have to say... I thought this game was for "hardcore typists". I got all the way up to the last Boss in F8 and then I remembered there was a "Dodge" button... Which you WILL NEED... Because... Even with a typing speed of 100+ wpm... You can't beat him. Hah! (Someone wrote a guide on the "Dodge" button too, so you can look for it there or listen to the skelly). Although I was enjoying the game, I only have two gripes with it: -> The map needs to have a ZOOM OUT. I have severe trouble with directions and with the map being so up close... I ended up on the same floor, circling around 5x... Until I realized that I was in an incorrect place to be. -> The Save Point only comes before Bosses/Sometimes at random spots... So like 30+ - 1hr... I haven't found a "Quick Save" anywhere and ended up re-doing stuff, as sometimes I get called away to do stuff. While I beat the F8 tower... The Number Lock thing....... very punny and very charming dungeon crawler, might be a bit frustrating to some but i think it's the normal amount of friction for a dungeon crawler game. it's also kinda funny how just being too fast at typing can completely skip the enemies' gimmicks and ruin their dialogue.

DISCLAIMER: I'm a retired medical transcriptionist who types 90 WPM, so my impression of this game is likely quite different from gamers who are not professional typists. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Backspace Bouken is quite good. Not perfect, but good enough that I played to the end and I had a fun time with it! The dungeon-crawler aspect of the game is just a thin veneer, so gamers looking for a dungeon-crawler will likely not be impressed. No weaponry or armor to find, no skills to level up, and only a paper-thin plot. I'm only casually into dungeon-crawlers, so I didn't mind at all. What kept the fun alive for me was the reasonably good variety of difficulty (short words and sentences, long words and sentences, punctuation), and the pleasant playful humor. Nothing laugh-out-loud funny, but a solidly constant kooky stream of punny wordplay. Aside from the puns, the sentences are quite real-worldly. awesome game about typing, cool storyline too!! i would've 100'd this if it weren't for the 90 wpm achievement :( anyways 8/10
