About Mischance

Mischance is a game that relies heavily on an RNG system. Each and every little task you perform has the chance to kill you (some more than others).

  • Starter Cards - At the beginning of every run, players will have 3 cards to choose from, each having it's own advantage of reducing the % chance of corresponding types of death.
  • Scenario - Sometimes, a scenario will pop up that gives the players a few options to choose from. Each option can either benefit the player or backfire against them. While some scenarios have randomised outcomes for the same option, others have only one right answer.
  • Health - Your health slowly deteriorates if you do not take care of your hygiene. Make sure to wash your hands regularly!
  • Transport - You have three options to choose from when deciding how to go to work, one of them being skipping work completely. Each option has it's own pros and cons.
  • Finances - Use the limited money you have smartly. Buy appliances that keep you alive or reduce your costs, but be careful not to run out of money in such a perilious situation!
Every night you money gets deducted for foor or tax expenses. Each new day can offer new scenarios or problems. Play smartly, pray you're just lucky enough and maybe...just maybe...you might make it out alive.

✦ AI summary

Players are divided on this luck-based roguelike about surviving daily life in an apartment. Those who enjoy it appreciate the tense atmosphere, addictive gameplay loop, and humor in absurd death scenarios, though some note frustrating bugs and a memorable grudge against ceiling fans. Critics argue the game is overly dependent on RNG with little meaningful player agency, excessive accident rates that make protective modifiers useless, and a repetitive three-action daily cycle that offers minimal progression or rewards between runs.

Can't recommend this. It's basically just a coin flip simulator. I like the idea, and it could be good if there was more interactivity, but: There is no way to mitigate the risk of anything whatsoever. Your actions do not matter, other than keeping clean so you're less likely to get sick. It's basically a roguelike, but you don't get anything additional after you die. All of the gameplay takes place in a 3 room apartment. Each day consists of three actions - wash, go to work, sleep. And then RNG just throws you into deaths, usually. You get a modifier at the beginning of the game, but since accidents are tuned to be incredibly common, any of the other modifiers are basically useless. It's like a 10% change to be killed by a bus and a 18% chance to be killed by ceiling fan?? Which makes no sense. In addition, you are given three paid days off from work, which there's basically no reason not to use immediately; and you can buy one of Refrigerator, AC, or Treadmill. However, this is a trick, because it is impossible to buy the treadmill without starving, as you don't have enough money left for food until your paycheck. Basically, it is just very restrictive and doesn't give the p…

While playing Mischance, time seemed to fly by—I didn’t even realize I had been playing for hours. This game is all about luck, chance, and taking risks. Your decisions, big and small, can influence your chances of surviving, and there are key moments where your choices really matter. As I progressed further into the game, I found myself growing increasingly anxious about losing late in the game and having to start over. I’m not sure how many times I played through, but I genuinely enjoyed every minute of it—even the frustrating moments, like when a particular fan sabotaged my progress. The game also has some fun little Easter eggs that add an extra layer of charm. Overall, Mischance is a great experience. That said, there’s a known bug that can cause your progress to reset, which can be really frustrating. I think the game could benefit greatly from addressing this issue, and I’d love to see the developers fix it. Even with that setback, Mischance remains a highly enjoyable and engaging game that I recommend to anyone looking for a fun challenge. It’s well worth the price.
