Chihiro Himukai Always Walks Away

This is by no means a good VN *if* you're looking for an engaging story, and I believe I myself am partly to blame for not calibrating my expectations as such. Do I regret playing it, not really, but I cannot *recommend* it to anyone. To call it a "bad" game is a little harsh, especially considering I've played worse, but it definitely cannot be conflated with a good game or story. It is also worth prefacing that this game is a kinetic VN, meaning you don't get any choices. Let's start off with what the game does well: - It has very solid voice acting for all characters except the MC (expected). - It has a very vanilla and light, sweet? story, which in itself isn't bad, but it is far overshadowed by the cons. It is almost as if there is an inkling of an underlying message that cannot escape the torrential... *noise* that the game introduces. - Relationship is between two consenting adults... yeah the bar is quite low. And on to the cons: - It's quite repetitive, in the sense that the characters are almost saying the same thing or on the same topic for a non-trivial amount of the story. [h2]A Reunion Like No Other[/h2] A story about reconnecting with a childhood friend of the past. The thing is, you both want something different. She wants someone for the night, and you want something more. Experience their bond grow. It won't be easy, there will be hurdles to overcome, but for the right person, love will overcome anything. Chihiro is such a wonderful character, and watching her grow is honestly beautiful. She's so incredibly well written. She may struggle to secure a job, but with you by her side, she may just get it done. Definitely one of my favourite visual novel characters. If you want a feel-good romance, I'd strongly suggest this one, I love both the music and the CGs and of course, it's an enjoyable read.

Good Visual Novel Game. Love the Story and the songs!

I didn't expect much from this visual novel when I bought it but surprisingly I had a fun time reading this. The duration is short. The premise is simple. Yet I love how the story and the relation between MC and Chihiro. The development between them is nice without needing to be stretched and dragged on for too long. If you are looking for short and nice VN to read and to enjoy, I recommend this VN (and also to put the 18+ patch. It's somewhat soothing and enjoyable too). It's not the greatest VN of all time with the best story and best character, but for the price and length, it does its job well.

Another Discord server club read selection. Rom-com VNs aren't usually my thing due to how cliched they are both with scenes and stories, but I was pleasantly surprised with this one, so I'd cautiously recommend it. [spoiler]A) Chihiro is actually well written in terms of showing hesitancy/anxiety; she actually has to work through some emotional issues before she's in a proper state to be in a relationship. B) Unlike SMEE titles, this didn't have a bunch of stupid otaku humor, slapstick, and sex jokes. I can't stand that s***. C) This is one of the few romance VNs I've read that actually shows workplace romance and all the pros and cons that come with that (up to a certain extent). No high school shenanigans here. The only time you see school is when you're getting helpful flashbacks to give the main couple here a backstory. D) The first half of the VN actually shows a somewhat realistic take on a "friends with benefits into lovers" type of situation. A relatively short kinetic novel that depicts a slow-burn romance between two acquaintances reconnecting after a long time apart. The story is relatively cute and low-drama, but still very human. The gameplay is almost wholly linear with no meaningfully branching paths, so whether the game appeals to you will depend entirely upon how much you connect with the story. Generally a wholesome story.
