Becoming

I like novels with historical story lines. When I saw this I thought it was going to be something ENTIRELY different. This game is nothing like what it's portrayed to be. First, it isn't even a boy-meet-girl story. It's a boy-meets-former-boy-who's-now-a-girl hot mess of a story line. IF it's not your thing, you should know there's a LOT of graphic discussion of... how endowed the homeless person is and how well (s)he can eat a banana. Also, both characters are unappealing. The protagonist is merely OK (the classic "sold his soul to the company" type that has regrets). He's on the rebound after only a week. A week. He has questionable friends: He continues to be friends with a restaurant owner/chef who could be arrested for assault and battery due to a restaurant dish that he served him when they first met (yuck). This will appeal to urine fetishists, I guess. And the homeless transgender love interest is rude and also smells strongly of stale urine (back to the urine fetish). I gave up after 30 minutes in but, wow. That's still 30 minutes of my life that I can't get back.

Check out my video of the game posted above to see some of the gameplay and hear my thoughts. Becoming is a visual novel with choices to be made. The music, backgrounds, characters and other aspects are quite appealing; though I find some of the text to be oddly worded causing me to have to reread a section or sentence multiple times to get the meaning. I am really looking forward to streaming the conclusion of the game. If you are in to visual novels, reading, making choices and being a prick to everyone around you; then you have to get this game. Update: I have finished this game multiple times with different endings and each time it has been a pure joy to play. I look forward to whatever this creator has to put forth next and will be eagerly awaiting it.

This game had/has so much potential. It would be great if it could be polished a little more, reworking parts of the story and filling in a few gaps. What I will say is for 2 whole bucks ($2 for those who can't manage to understand that last part) it's not really a bad start of a game. I look at it as a paid demo for a game that, from what I have managed to pick-up from searching about, will never be completed, and that is kind of sad. Bonus: I'll help you out here. If you're getting this for nudity, well yeah, don't bother. There's like one shot that I remember and it's above the waist only. I will say unfortunately, some of the choices are non-choices and just lack any sense to them and it ruins the flow of the game. The example I give below in the spoiler tag is an example of this, and it does give away a major part of the game so do not read it unless you are an adult and don’t really give a flying f..k about spoilers. Don’t be a whiny little b...h if you read it and spoil it for yourself. [spoiler] Also come on really, your character likes the lead female you get stabbed because they’re transgender, your character doesn't like the lead female, the person who stabs you gets …

Bad quality VN boring story too few nude scenes and very short for progression.

Good try for a visual and sound novel, but I find the english translation to be too literal that it is extremely hard to understand at times.
