Jumplight Odyssey is a roguelite starship colony sim where you shepherd your crew across the galaxy while managing everything from their moods and relationships to oxygen levels and surprise alien invasions. Build and optimize your multi-deck vessel, deal with emergent crew dynamics and cascading disasters, and learn from each failed run to escape Admiral Voltan's forces in this charming space survival sandbox inspired by retro anime aesthetics.
Lead your crew on a daring, star-flung escape to the sanctuary of the Forever Star in this roguelite starship colony sim. Escape the clutches of Admiral Voltan and the warmongering Zutopans, as you build, repair, promote, defend, and grow, across multiple decks of your starship. With your home planet destroyed and your people lost, it's up to you to keep Hope alive on a perilous adventure across the galaxy!

- As captain, you are responsible for taking care of the human needs of everyone on your ship. Everything from socializing, sleep, food, to water and air. Wifi not included in this hierarchy of needs.
- A delightful and charming starship dollhouse experience, filled with a living crew going about their lives; eating, sleeping, working, and surviving. Your crew interact with each other as brothers, sisters, lovers, friends and rivals. Hopefully a little less of the latter, but we’re not making any promises.
- Moods and ideas are contagious. On this floating melodrama, emergent relationships and incidents have a direct impact on the crew. Keep the Hope of your crew high, or suffer the consequences!
- Explore different star systems with different biomes that have varying effects on your ship and crew.
- Manage emergent systems: fire, electrical strikes, radiation, loss of oxygen. Nothing runs smoothly forever.
- Promote everyday crew members to division officers, and then negotiate their differing management quirks as they run a tight ship, or burn it to the ground.
- Battle against hostile boarding parties and scramble your starfighters to defend against intergalactic invaders!
- Your journey is a treacherous one. Take lessons from each previous voyage, and retool your ship for new circumstances. Then try, try again.
- Keep exploring the galaxy. Rerun your daring escape and discover new encounters, events, characters and challenges each time.
- Inspired by epic 1970s star-spanning anime adventures - the likes of Star Blazers and more. Add some smooth 70’s Tokyo late night disco to keep the mood? You got it.
- Experience a dynamic toylike sandbox inspired by the Incredible Cross-Sections and What Do People Do All Day? series of books.

Made the mistake of buying off my wishlist instead of reading reviews. Game is abandonware. Anyone with more than 2 hours on this game is stuck in a sunk cost fallacy. The fact that they were part of the Summer Sale is super scummy. Thankfully I got a refund.25 found this helpful
The bones of this game seem great but being stuck in an EA state with no sign of revival in development makes the price tag questionable especially when it is stated that the game is on hiatus. Had this title been sold for less in its current patch I probably would've kept it in hopes of the development resuming.15 found this helpful
Not sure if I'm allowed to say the name, but there was an old anime about a space ship traveling across the galaxy to bring back something to save Earth. If you were a fan of that show, you'll probably enjoy this game! I wish there was a little more control over the combat, but otherwise truly enjoy this game!7 found this helpful

I really feel that if this game didn't go with its aesthetic choice it would have acquired a much much wider audience. I also dont think this game got advertised at all. HOWEVER It is a game that i think about regularly. I dont know what genre of game this is but Evil Genius 2 is similar, however what this game does is that it keeps you moving and you need to maintain your tiny ships too. Its a wonderful concept and decent execution. I wish this game was still managed by a small team that have passion in it, but i dont see it getting revived. I wish there was a kickstarter to keep development of this game alive I think it was really really special and it sucks knowing im not getting a experience like this anywhere else
