About Reflection

"Best Puzzle game of 2022" —— Ben plays VR

Reflection is a VR puzzle adventure game with a traditional Chinese ring to it.

The puzzle is innovative and unique. Players will challenge a multi-dimensional space created by the mirror, and use mirrors to solve puzzles by manipulating the world in mirror and entering it. With access to seven themed chapters, players are to crack seven types of puzzles deriving from the mirrors, including Logic, Physics, Space, Time and so on.
Players can enjoy an immersive tour in the landscape, experiencing calligraphically tranquil landscapes in vastly expansive paint-like scenarios while solving puzzles.

Key features:

 • Challenge yourself with varied puzzles derivatived by one simple rule, change mirrror wold and enter the mirror. Enjoy yourself with the elegant and concise of thinking for hours.
 • As you progress on seven chapters, feast your eyes on the "Grand Sight Garden", set foot on the most famous imaginary garden of China.
 • Tracing back to the fifth chapter in Dream of the Red Chamber, the game draws inspiration from Jia Baoyu’s visit to The land of Faery. You will be guid to a sad story metaphor hinted by the puzzles, experience the combination of the karmic wheel of cause and effect, birth and rebirth.
 • Original stylized music combining electronic music and ancient chinese style.

Games like Reflection are why I check out the Oculus Rift Reviews Steam curator, because I'd have never found this really nice game without it. https://store.steampowered.com/curator/32244664-Oculus-Rift-Reviews/ It's a puzzle room game but instead of the sterile "test chamber" theme I've become sick of seeing, this is a beautiful Oriental aesthetic with simplified graphics that will run smooth like butter on any system. They don't waste time rendering stuff and nonsense like shadows. Distant backgrounds look like matte paintings, which for some reason is a visual effects technique I still have a ton of nostalgia for. Speaking of visual effects, one of the effects that has been very tough for even the biggest-budget AAA games to even attempt is.... reflections in mirrors! Ever puzzle room game needs its 'gimmick' and these devs made mirrors the main mechanic. Near the end of the game they reveal that the "mirror" effect isn't actually reflections, when they reapply the underlying tech to create another type of mechanic. The game's puzzle mechanics bloom as you go, with new things introduced through the entire game. It's just as every puzzle game should be! Puzzle difficul…
Chinese Portal!?!?
Casual + gradual increasing difficulty that builds your skill as you go + with windows that bend space which you jump into to solve puzzles + really well made + polished + relaxing + mind bending fun = Chinese Portal. The mirrors basically create alternate realities that you have to strategically interact with to solve puzzles. It's not portal, but it scratches a bit of that itch, and is really a good unique game at a fair price. If you think you'll like this game, you will. If you are not sure and have questions, or you just want to hang out with others in VR, stop by our group and say hi. DEAR DEV: Well done. DM me if you want our steam group's help in getting the word out about this hidden gem. 🔥►Meet people PLAYING now (in group CHAT link below) 💬►Chinese Portal!?!? A beautiful experience. The environment and music combine to make a wonderful VR world. I'm not big on the teleport movement but in this case it wasn't too terrible. Most puzzles are not too difficult. I was only stumped a few times. I did need to seek out help on the final level but that was due to an incorrect assumption on my part. I did purchase it on sale. I got about 5.5 hours of play time but I like to look around at the art style. I played on my Quest 2 headset with both Air Link and Virtual Desktop without any issues.

Minimalistic VR puzzle with some cool space and time manipulation mechanics. It's quite short with only 20+ levels, but some of the puzzles are surprisingly challenging and might take a lot of time to solve. There is no difficulty curve: every chapter explores different mechanics without raising the complexity. Graphics is very basic and looks like it was ported from Quest without any upgrades, but it still ok to look at thanks to minimalistic visual style. Works on Reverb G2
