DROS

I really enjoyed this 3rd person action/platform/exploration/adventure game. You play as a co-joined pair that has to separate to get different things done. Each character can do different things and it is enjoyable finding out what you can and can't do. The graphics are very nice and the gameplay quite fun. The only issue I have is with camera controls. At times you cannot move the camera behind yourself, but are forced into the perspective the game wants you to have. I guess this makes sense from the games perspective, but it can be quite frustrating at times. The achievements are do-able, but some are quite difficult as they are timed, but with perseverance (and a little help from guides), even I was able to get these. I had to replay levels many times to get all the objectives, but they accumulate so you don't have to do all objectives in one run through. Allowing me to play one time really slowly and exploring thoroughly and a couple more to get the timed achievements or find all the items. Dros is a pretty good 3d platform puzzler. The strongest component is the compelling artistic direction that makes the whole "floating level" phenomenon feel more like a design choice rather than a limitation. I'll definitely recall the ramshackle architecture combined with oversized industrial mechanisms most fondly, and while its nothing super original, the level of polish and intentional artistic decisions make this game land super hard on that front. I particularly liked that, when playing as little dros, you can read dros language when you ordinarily can't as captain. The levels themselves were also a lot of fun, I found myself exploring them fully for all the collectibles and returning for the time trials several times just to appreciate the challenge. I had passed few of them once I found out that you also have to spare all the peaceful dros in order to get 100% though. It's original enough to play through once or twice, but the combat can feel a bit shoddy and I wasn't going for basically a third playthrough since it's also a little on the long side. Overall, I'd rate this 8/10 and recommend it to people who enjoy a good 3D platformer.

Disclaimer: I've bought the game during sales at -90% (for a bit over one buck), not the full price. This game is conceptually good and had the ingredients to be a classic but has some "jankiness" that prevents it from having a gold rank. I like the ability to play as two different characters (despite not being able to freely swap them as you have to combine the Dros with that knight to be able to move, it would've been more interesting to be able to play as him independantly for some puzzles requiring to move him then go back to the lever spot so that the platform carrying him would move). I also like the small story and lore (as much as in some levels there may be too much dialogues for a puzzle game almost to the point it feels more like a top down RPG or Action Adventure game a la Ys or Zelda). The combat system is a bit too simplistic (you have a guard and attack button) and you don't always think of using the new abilities as it consumes Prima (the game's "currency" to heal your character and a certain amount is required to get the gold rank on a level), the jumping is sometimes inconsistent as platforming is hard even with the drop shadow (at least in normal mode you can…

i have been following the creator on ticktock since they had started development and have been truly excited to play the game and boy did it deliver it is a really good puzzle game where the games arent super difficult but are enough to make you think on the first run through of the level and i love the silly litle characters i would definetly reccomend this game as it its a true hidden gem
