The Body Changer

[h1]In my opinion, The Body Changer is one of the most underestimated games in Steam, considering what it offers.[/h1] [u]Since it is not my genre of games, I admit I was skeptical too at the beginning, however the game gradually captured my attention and my curiosity, and never made them drop until the end of it; this surprised me, because only few games nowadays manage to catch me.[/u] [b]What it is about...[/b] The game takes place into a facility, located on an alien planet, remotely controlled by humans (through cyborgs called SynB's) to purify and use the planet's water. A short movie explains us how this facility was recently tampered by unknown forces, and our mission will be restoring it. For this purpose we'll be using some special SynB's, each of them with specific abilities, and we'll be doing it in synchronous: the most original trait of this game is indeed the ability of "moving" from a SynB's body to another's, in order to solve specifically written puzzles. Said puzzles are the very reason for which I fell in love with this game: they're original, balanced, all different from each other (some differences also being substantials, like complete changes of backgroun…

It's not very interesting and there are better games to play. The graphics are rather poor and you get tired/bored with this look pretty quickly.

Portal-like puzzle game + Resident Evil-like TPS fights + Zelda-like progression. The puzzles are good and well-crafted throughout the game (except a couple that are unfortunately really badly designed). Level design is the best thing about the game with shortcuts very well placed and no misconception in all this complexity, the dev thought of everything. The game is really long, 10 hours for 10 levels which is appreciable for an indie game. On the bad side, fighting is meh, loadings are too long, running pace is too slow as you go back and forth seeking your way... and the game is plain ugly. But that's what you get when you're just an indie without a whole artistic team to design Aperture Laboratories and GlaDOS and Wheatley. :)) Overall a good game that I might suggest if you're hungry for puzzle games after Portal and Talos Principle.
