Grunenberg

[i]Grunenberg[/i] was a neat little experience by developer Kebabos (possibly Turkish). The game opens with an audio track that is very, very long. Setpieces are stitched together with audio that doesn't quite fit the translated dub, so it can take you out of it a little. As far as the horror goes, it's effective [i]enough[/i]. Yeah, this title has jumpscares. Yeah, the AI isn't particularly bright or dangerous. Yeah, the flashlight is bad and the story is derivative. Those are all par for the course on any horror title running sub-$20. However, your battery drains while reading notes and you can get attacked while reading them. Perhaps the only obvious fault this game has going for it. The only egregious things would be the long audio tracks and notes. Otherwise, you're looking at a game that probably runs about an hour at a very affordable pricepoint.

Wanted to play, but unfortunately had several crashes within the very beginning (roughly 12 minutes total of recording time) of the game while trying to record a Let's Play. I'm running an i5 9600 with a 3060 and 16 GB of RAM, and was discouraged from wanting to finish. Maybe with a possible stability update, I'd give it a try but for now, I can't recommend it.

I think it is more than enough game for an independent developer. I hope it will bring us more successful productions.

Kinda interesting story, I do appreciate the VHS aesthetic. However, that doesn't account for the absurd amount of reading involved in the repetitive story. Each area was almost the same as the last, the exact same enemy walks ominously (Read as absurdly slowly and non-threateningly) at you, but with 'x amount of minor objective'.

Fun short horror with a great (but shocking, seriously, trigger warning) story. Atmosphere is great and I was entertained for the full duration of the game. Checkpoints can be quite annoying as you start back at the beginning of each chapter, but the game isn't very difficult. Interesting game with its own way of storytelling. The environment is quite nicely done, though the game did crash on me once in completing the story. Otherwise no other bugs detected. The key bindings were tricky, as E was flashlight and F was interact. I had some issues with WASD where walking seemed to get stuck alot though nothing was prominently in my spot. Dying respawns you to the start of the chapter so if you can taken great pains to collect stuffs and progress, it can be disappointing.
