Review Update: Well, it's been a year since I posted this review, so I thought I'd try the game out again and see where it is. Unfortunately It's still about the same. The UI looks a bit nicer, the models look a bit nicer, the game-play is still in a very rough state. It's still unplayable in 3840x1080 because the camera hyper focuses in on just your character so you cannot see anything around you. It still drops your item on the ground and breaks it if you try to equip something from your inventory and the replaced item cannot fit in the inventory. It still has an inventory bug that ghosts the icons of items in your inventory so you cannot tell how much space your inventory has. It still has areas in the map you can go out of bounds in and though I didn't play long enough to find out, i bet it still has areas where you can fall off the playable map. In short... I still cannot recommend this game to anyone, had high hopes for it, but I suppose that's gaming today. Back to Last Epoch and PoE I guess. Almost impossible to play right now. I waited until close to the refund window end and I couldnt justify keeping it. It definitely has an appeal to it. Its slower paced than games such as POE which is both a good thing and a bad depending on your play style. I was disappointed to see only 3 classes to choose from. (and they are super similar, you can almost choose any of them and build the same thing) Although it says you can combine skilltrees like in Grim Dawn, they are already pre chosen and splitting your few skill points up between them hamstrings your character HARD. Damage is super weak to begin with and if you are playing melee have fun trying to kill the mobs with auras before they kill you. I played into the second act and I had to stop. Severe judder and framerate drops to 1/2 fps. It was using 98% of my i9-9900k and I could not even play it when in outpost. Not to mention the constant visual glitches and hitbox messes. Apparently this is made by one guy who is staying on top of it so I would love to revisit when its playable but its not worth keeping even on sale at the moment. Its almost unplayable.

This game is a blast. If you enjoy Grim Dawn, and other games like that you're going to get a real kick out of this. It feels like a real honest to god Early Access as well. It's buggy as hell, some game breaking. There's tons of changes randomly, and the game itself feels unfinished. Why Early Access though? Because the )(*@#$_)(*@#$)($ DEVELOPER ACTUALLY RESPONDS AND LISTENS TO YOU AND TREATS YOU LIKE SOMEONE WHO'S TESTING THEIR GAME FOR THEM. You do have to pay some cash, but Sam Keats genuinely appreciates your effort and time. You can drop him a message on discord, or the forums, and he responds quickly. He puts a lot of effort into this, and it shows. Fanboy words aside, this game is a real blast. The abilities feel unique and have impact, balance is still an issue so some are OP and some are lackluster, but in general all are a blast. Pet's are fun, a bit broken and op but fun. I also really like some of the slam abilities. The plot is hot garbage, but does anyone play these games for plot? If you do check out Grim Dawn lol. I can't wait to see how the builds grow more diverse. I don't necessarily agree with all the decisions, but he had a good interview with Tarke Cat…

Unfinished and abandoned twice now

Cant say I would recommend in its current state although it could be great. Too many teething problems at the moment and no doubt the dev is looking to fix, but given the price of the early access at the moment here are some of the bugs: (playing as a Warrior / Mage) - There is ALOT of drift on the character when attacking (i didnt have this playing as ranger/mage) and there is no force standstill button. - Skill Buttons (whilst playing with keyboard and mouse, not sure if controllers are supported) are unresponsive most of the time unless mashing. This is a major issue. - Potion seem unresponsive most of the time with the character spamming "I cant do this" - again a major issue. - Summoned pets dont follow the character - When you die your current quest (farm x amount of whatevers resets) which is not necessarily a bug but hugely frustrating - There is no way of telling how the heck this game saves as there is no manual save... is it waypoints or when you return to town or when you quit to main menu or quit to desktop? - From Spider map onwards the map is completely @ss backwards and navigation difficult whilst looking at the minimap - Whilst handing in a quest might do someth…
