As long as you go in with proper expectations this game is well worth its absurdly cheap price tag. It is short, about 30 - 45 minutes including the new second island. But it's well put together, has fun co-op, and shows great promise. I'm looking forward to Runelock Island once it comes out and am happy i could support this team during its development! Though maybe a longer weapon would be appreciated haha2 found this helpful
I don't hate this game whatsoever, it's just.. this has left so baffled. Thinking about this game makes me think of a single question "why?". Why is this game being sold for 0,79€? Why has this been ported to EVERY major platform despite there being close to no content? Why has this game been translated into 9 different languages? WHY IS THIS GAME BEING SOLD FOR 0,79 €????????? The answers to these questions might seem logical, but after finishing this game, I promise you will have these exact same questions. I'll talk about this game's appeal and gameplay. The conclusion will also serve as a tl;dr, even though it's still long.
Appeal
The game obviously has the goal to capture that retro zelda game feel, and with its pixelart, soundeffects and music, I'd say it succeeded here to some extent. All of these aspects are what attracted me to the game in the first place. They even give you the option to play on a 4:3 aspect ratio to fully immerse yourself in that gameboy advance vibe. In addition to this, they also allow coop, which might be this game's strongest quality. I never tried coop, but I can imagine it bringing some amount of joy. The game being hilariously short cou…
a fun game for those who enjoy playing classic 'Legend of Zelda' games' this is rather short with one island, and one dungeon. and fun fact, often use this game for test out my streaming. I do wonder if we'll see an expansion of this game someday with more dungeons and items
I have to admit, this is a really well done zelda-like for the price of a water bottle. If you like old fashion zelda games and don't mind spending a buck for about 30 minutes to an hour worth of game time (you can stretch it to two hours if you go exploring for secrets), you have yourself a decent game here. I hope the developer considers making a sequel that compares to "Ocean's Heart" or "Blossom Tales: The Sleeping King" in terms of content and story cause... I would definitively buy it, and the potential for a pirate theme zelda-like is insane. Anyways, if you don't mind dropping a dollar for a fun, short experience. Go for it. Cheers!
Completed both islands in 39 minutes, taking my time. Similar to Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, but is very bare bones. The only items I saw in the two islands were the boomerang, the bombs, and the life potion (a la Link's Awakening). There was a Magic Potion, but I never saw any items that used the Magic Meter. The only way to use coins as far as I could tell were through buying the Life Potion from the old man in the cottage. Your sword can't be charged like in Legend of Zelda, but rather than tapping the wall with the sword like in Legend of Zelda, you can swing at walls, and if they're bombable, there's a sound that plays. Very low variety of mobs; most are analogous to other mobs. Most of them have very similar behaviour, and dealing with them gets boring over time. The amount of content is low enough that the maps could be marketed as "an example map" if the game itself were a modding tool to create islands and bosses. Solid 6.5/10. Worth $1, but probably not any more than that. Comments for dev: -Some treasure chests on the second island can become impossible to reach. (I'm assuming the islands are randomly generated?) https://imgur.com/a/0C9NuUW Heres a pair of…
A short and simple zelda-like with a nice soundtrack and two maps to explore. There are a few secrets to find and although i would have liked to find some items that more substantialy impacted the gameplay, i would still recomend this game to fans of short and simple game experiences. Might be nice to get if you want a flash of nostalgia to the old zelda games, especially at this price.
