Shovel Knight is a sweeping, classic action-adventure game with awesome gameplay, memorable characters, and an 8-bit retro aesthetic. It's a hot mashup of new and old! You play as the eponymous Shovel Knight, a small warrior with a huge quest. Shovel Knight has come to this land with two goals: to defeat the evil Enchantress and quest for his lost beloved. He wields a Shovel Blade: a multipurpose weapon whose techniques have now been lost to the ages. Always honest and helpful, Shovel Knight is a shining example of the code of Shovelry: Slash Mercilessly and Dig Tirelessly!
But, between Shovel Knight and his beloved stands a cadre of villainous knights. TS IS PEAK MY BROTHER
why am I crying so hard
I remember playing this a lot on my Wii U back in 2015. I don't think I finished it but I have quite fond memories of this game. It was the first indie game I bought that wasn't Minecraft. I remember this being so much harder back then but that might have to do with the fact I was like 11. Today, it's still a solid romp from beginning to end. Nothing that will really challenge veterans to the genre unless you go for some of the harder challenges in the game. Not sure how people less familiar with the genre will fair, but I don't THINK it will be that difficult (idk, I've been playing Platformers my whole life). Only real complaint I have towards the game is that the knockback can be a kick in the teeth in a few moments but aside from that, Shovel Knight is a pretty good game

I can't understand the popularity of this game. There's nothing minimally interesting or original about the gameplay. No depth. Nothing on top of the bare minimum of a patformer.
