[b]The Dungeon Crawler for the kids to choose | KAMGUSTA's MINI REVIEW[/b] This is the remastered version of the game released in 2010 for Nintendo DS, and sequel to the second "Etrian Odyssey". It's a simple dungeon crawler similar to "Dungeon Master", "Eye of the Beholder", "Wizardry" or the newer "Legend of Grimrock", with a first person perspective and a grid-based exploration. Unlike those, it has a Japanese/Anime style and a special section on the screen where you can draw your own map (not so easy with a joypad). Combat is turn based, similar to classic JRPGs. To those who say it's quite difficult, that is true only if you play on "normal", but you can simply select a lower difficulty and it becomes easy / very easy. I didn't like the "colorful" and "childish" style, the simple mechanics (it's a DS port...), the JRPG gameplay (out of place) and, worst of all, not being able to see your party (you'll forget to have it). I'd recommend it only to fans of JRPGs searching for something a little different. If you want unforgiving old-school dungeon crawler game, this is it. Because this is a port of 3DS game, the controls for drawing maps will take time, but you'll get used to it. There is also a feature to automatically draw the maps you explore in the settings so do turn that on.

The first game with 3 endings, but the tedium of replaying each time made me lose motivation to finish it. They really expanded side content but most of it is linear or useless. If you play on hard difficulty, it just gets SOOO grindy.

much like the previous 2 games in the series, this game is a fun but challenging RPG!!!! i loved the addition of subclasses and seafaring, honestly there were moments where i got more invested in travelling the seas than going through the actual main game 😅 the game having multiple routes + endings also made me more invested in the story this time round then i was in the previous 2 EO games too, and i loved the character designs in this game especially! i really wanna check out the 3DS EO games in the future now, hopefully they might get HD remasters some time too! 👍
