About Ludus Mortis
STORY
Rome, 4th Century AD. Over the last few decades the Senate has become corrupt and has progressively lost power and influence, while the Emperor Diocletian and his army ruled unchallenged outside the eternal city.
Seeking to return to a dominant position, the members of the Roman Senate decide to use necromancy to increase their power, creating an army of undead and demons to fight against imperial soldiers.
By waging war on its own emperor, the Senate has caused a rift in the Roman population, which slowly began to live in fear.
Year after year the armies of undead summoned by the Senate have taken over, imposing themselves on the senators and enslaving the Roman population.
In this climate of chaos, an ancient gladiatorial school continued to train soldiers for the games. But the purpose of these gladiators is now different: to rid the city of the undead and invaders...to allow Rome to return to its former glory.
GAMEPLAY
Ludus Mortis is a Grid-Based First Person Dungeon Crawler inspired by classic cRPG from the 80s and 90s.
It's a party-based RPG ("blobber") with turn-based combat.

[b]He tried, he failed | KAMGUSTA's MINI REVIEW[/b] This a "Eye of the Beholder" clone made by a single developer with a low budget. I really tried to have fun with it, and I had some for the first few minutes, but then all the negatives came. The translations are horrible, even if the developer is a native italian speaker. Menus are chaotic and instead of nice icons there are only text descriptions (how hard would be to include a picture of a forge for the blacksmith?). Character creation is flawed, you can roll dices until you max all your starting stats. Experience points are grindy to earn, forcing you to replay previous dungeons. Classes are defined only by 2 or 3 different skills and starting points. The "mercy" ability is overpowered and almost essential to defeat the unbalanced bosses. Many "quality of life" minor details are missing, such as the description of what abilities do and how they impact your stats, shortcut keys, drag and drop UI and so on. It is also very repetitive, with 90% of your actions just "attack the enemy". This is more of a high school project rather than a commercial game. Really loving this game, serios old school vibe. I played The Bards Tale back in teh 90s and then smashed the recent re release. Ludus reminds me a lot of that. Simple gameplay, just batttle and level up to get stronger and take on more challengers. When you unlock a new skill it feels highly rewarding and thats what it is all about.6 found this helpful

The one thing I feel this game fails at is that it made the combat turn-based. I like my Dungeon Crawlers live-action where the environment is part of the strategy. Outside of that the setup is unique, including the whole Ludus management mechanic.2 found this helpful
