Hollow Mine

Very cool game, quite a lot of rng follows you in every run you start - from room layouts to resources you can find. It doesnt hold your hand at all besides showing you base mechanics in tutorial, everything else is left for you to explore and find. Besides unlocking characters, there is no metaprogression, no skill trees or permanents abilities, every run is just you and whatever you can find to make it to the end - which makes it both fun and frustrating at times. Would recommend if you want to try a game where you need to move, dodge, do damage, manage inventory and see yourself get better at it with every run.

Hollow Mine is a very enjoyable title. The graphics feel polished, the gameplay flows well and the sound design is solid, together these mix into a fun experience. As a roguelike dungeon crawler it comes equipped with a lot of different builds and upgrades for each playable character, you can gather resources to upgrade your weapons, craft rings or brew potions to make yourself stronger. So far I've mostly played ranger and getting proper build with a diamond bow makes you deliver 1000+ dmg nukes with each arrow and it feels extremely satisfying. The upgrades mostly seem to follow the path of wooden -> copper -> iron -> diamond for every weapon type, except scrolls. Alchemy plays a part as well, you can find or purchase blueprints to craft a variety of potions and make the run easier. Some of the things i found that could be improved in the future: - Some of the bosses feel too similar with their movesets, which involve a 360 bullet spam and spawning minor adds. - Having a different music track for each biome, as it does get repetitive quite quickly, despite it being a good one. - You can lock yourself out of a run if you happen to break your pickaxe and get spawned in a room wh…

Nice game created by a passionate man. I haven't played much yet, so I'll update my review in the future, however I can already point out nice graphics and music.

Fun to play roguelike with cute pixel art graphics. Fans of true roguelike genre should enjoy it because the game doesn't feature meta progression other than unlocking new playable characters. There are two quite unique things that I like about Hollow Mine: 1. Crafting system that allows you to make new weapons with blueprint and resources but also upgrade existing weapons into higher tier versions. 2. Mining destroyable walls to uncover ores and hidden treasures. The health pool is rather small so you need to be careful when playing. It's quite easy to die if you lose focus for a moment. Not a bad thing though. Adds to the challenge!

I haven't played much but I can already see that this game is something that will keep me hooked for a long time. I recommend it to Roguelike fans.
