About Tracks of Thought

What was supposed to be just a regular commute took a strange turn after a mysterious train tunnel caused everyone to forget something important. Where is everyone headed? What is really going on? Is it even a real train? Whatever happened, it’s up to you to step up and solve the mystery.

You won’t be doing it alone either - there are dozens of other passengers on board who all want to know where they’re going. But not everyone will want to work together either. It’s up to you to resolve differences, using a card-based battle-of-wits system, where the goal is to resolve the conflict and find common ground.

The personality of the 🐞ladybug🐞 is defined by the choices you make in the first train car. One of seven potential companions will even join you on your journey, an unlikely ally who’s your polar opposite.

Beyond that? A diverse collection of characters to meet, greet, and talk up! Every one of them is an adorable critter, with distinct personalities, vibes, and possibly…quests! From a 🕷️shy spider to a real Queen Bee🐝, everyone you meet will leave an impression. Especially if you run into the biker wasps and their gang…

Conflicts inevitably arise when dozens of bugs are stuck on a train heading in an unknown direction. Tracks of Thought is all about resolving conflicts through empathy and communication. Pick your cards and try to find common ground with others to solve problems together!

Will it take logic and reasoning? Being sensitive and caring? Inspiring and charismatic? Find out what makes others tick and overcome their reservations to find the missing train driver!

It’s an eventful journey to the Control Room. Each carriage is a world unto itself, all with their own passengers and challenges to overcome - from finding lost belongings to instigating a worker revolution. Every encounter may yield little nuggets of wisdom that will help our Ladybug on a fruitful journey of self-discovery and reflection.

I have decided to not finish this game. Subjectively, I did not care for the dialogue, which composes most of the game, and so why play a game where I'm not jiving with most of it? Objectively, there are mechanics to the "combat" that seem bugged. Neither me nor my "opponent" were capable of losing health, so it meant that no decision mattered. Also, There were multiple times where dialogue would suggest I had to do something that I wasn't supposed to do (find a key/key is immediately given, etc). Also, I remember this game being marketed as having decisions, but in the first 30 min there are very few. I'm hopeful to see what the developer makes next, as there are a lot of good ideas here, they just need another pass.

This games got bugs and i'm not talking about the characters. I've restarted twice because the game glitches out in some way or gives the wrong dialogue at the wrong time or simply just does not let you interact with the character or item that you need in order to progress. It's like an endless cycle of getting soft locked. Or after saving and exiting the game i'll come back and quests i completed will suddenly no longer be ticked off as completed but it also won't let me interact with anything anymore. I wanted to like it, I really did, but in it's current state I don't think it's playable at all. The concept is there and the background + character designs are lovely but this game needs a lot more work put into it.

DNF The art is absolutely adorable and I like the idea of doing conflict resolution via a card game on paper. Unfortunately the game commits various sins that made me decide to quit it within the first hour of play: 1. The sound mixing is all over the place and the option menu does not give you any kind of sound-cue when you raise or lower the volume. This means that you will only find out if dialogue, SFX, or music is too loud in the middle of the game by having your ears assaulted. For some reason the developers also decided that when characters yell the sound becomes significantly louder which makes sense but also actively hurts! 2. The game does not give a proper tutorial on controls. I found out you can sprint by accident, and the game does not tell you how to properly navigate it other than flashing the "WASD" symbol at you briefly in the beginning, so I spent the first 5 minutes of the game thinking I had somehow gotten stuck, and reloading the game twice. 3. The game also does not allow you to rebind controls. I will never use X to deselect something in a WASD game, if you give me controls IN THE OPTIONS MENU then LET ME REBIND THEM! This is not a new thing especially …

Looks cute, but it's so buggy (pun not intended) I had trouble navigating the main menu and I can't get past the first screen in the game, required dialogues/interactions won't trigger. This game is unfinished and sold for a really high price.

This game is incredibly cute and charming and i am in love with the dialouge but overall cannot reccomend due to a bug that prevents you from completing the game with no real response to when or how it will be fixed. On top of that the card game play is very repetitive and doesn't quite make sense. this game could benefit with a face lift

There is a lot to like about Tracks of Thought. The art style is charming, the plot and dialogue are fun and silly with a good amount of heart that comes through when the topics get more serious in nature. I think the music and sound design were solid, and overall, I am glad I played this game. This recommendation comes with a massive caveat that from a technical standpoint, this game does have a lot of bugs (not just the adorable characters, either). I was able to get through the mainline story thankfully, but not all of the sidequests. It's a shame, and it's not likely that these bugs will be resolved. So, if you can look past many small technical issues, and you're really into cute narrative indie games that try new things, go for it, just be warned. If you can't stand bugs (the software kind, not the creatures) then you can probably safely pass on this one. I do really believe that if this game got some post-release TLC and a good patch then it would be a wholesome indie gem.
