Among Ashes

This is a hidden gem, found it through a random sale but this is worth the full price. Genuinely great ps1 style horror game with some good scares. Plays like classic resident evil games and has the cheesy voice acting. My only complaint is that some enemies can get very cheap hits even through objects, its not too annoying as the game has a fair amount of healing items. 9/10 would definitely recommend if you love old school horror games.

A really good creepypasta style horror game with a pretty unique concept. I really liked the whole idea of playing a game inside another game and how the two slowly start to mix together. The retro visuals also fit the whole thing perfectly and give it that old internet horror feeling. The story was probably my favorite part. I really enjoyed slowly figuring out what was actually going on and seeing how everything connects together. There are also some really creepy moments, especially when the game starts blurring the line between what's happening in the game and what's happening in reality. I also really liked how the game keeps introducing different ideas and gameplay sections instead of just sticking to one thing. I do think some parts of the gameplay could've been better and there were a few sections that felt more annoying than scary. But honestly, I still had a really good time with it. There's a lot of interesting stuff packed into this game and I really liked what it was trying to do with the whole creepypasta and game within a game concept. I absolutely loved it because of the unique ideas and it even reminded me a lot of the earlier days of horror games.

This was fantastic, I enjoyed the mystery, the wall breaking and just the overall vibe. I don't have too much to say, just go in blind and have a good time. My only annoyance was by pure muscle memory I was pressing tab instead of I for inventory a lot. Tab literally tabs you out of the game, so that took me out quite often. With I being so far away from wasd and your mouse, it didn't have a great game feel. The game also had random stutters sometimes, which seemingly teleported me. But it didn't happen often and was quite minor.

A modern indie horror classic. The scares are really well done, and the conceit of switching between the game and the "game" is really well realized. Doesn't overstay its welcome, the story is fairly simple but told very well, and even when it's not actively scary, it remains tense throughout. Highly recommend

I liked it. I got genuinely scared quite a few times, although there are a couple of cheap jumpscares thrown in there. Still, I had a good time. The game is heavily inspired by old-school Resident Evil and Silent Hill, and I really liked the whole concept of playing a game within a game, while weird things start happening outside of it. The story took me a little while to fully understand, but by the end I actually liked it. The idea behind the whole thing is really cool. The gameplay, however, is pretty rough. I assume that's partly intentional to recreate the feel of older survival horror games, but it got a bit frustrating at times. The UX is also not great. My biggest issue was that the game would freeze every now and then, which was pretty annoying. Other than that, I didn't run into any major bugs. Overall, a very cool idea with a great atmosphere. Definitely worth playing if you like old-school survival horror. 3.5/5
