✦ AI summary

Escape Area 51 by solving 52 fiendishly designed puzzles that leverage enemy mechanics, object manipulation, and special items in the spirit of the classic Adventures of Lolo series. With nine unique enemy types, a two-floor system, hidden master puzzles, and custom puzzle creation tools, each brain-teaser offers its own "ah-ha!" moment and demands a completely fresh approach.

The Game

Trapped in Area 51 on planet Earth, you must solve calculated puzzles to escape this strange planet. Puzzles consist of using enemies' mechanics to your advantage, moving objects to block enemies, and using items that alter parts of the rooms.

A spiritual successor to the widely acclaimed NES puzzle series Adventures of Lolo.

Features
  • 52 cleverly designed puzzles that will fill you with "ah-ha!" moments as you play. Each puzzle has its own unique concept, meaning each puzzle is solved differently.
  • Custom puzzle creation.
  • 9 enemies, each having a distinct mechanic. Oftentimes, you will take advantage of an enemy's mechanic to solve a puzzle.
  • A two floor system. On several puzzles, access an underground floor with limited visibility for an additional challenge.
  • Two master secret puzzles to unlock after beating the main game that will test the limits of your puzzle solving skills.
  • A game that builds on one of the most widely acclaimed puzzle series of the NES era.

Reminded me of LoLo so thought I’d give it a try. I’m enjoying the puzzles although I wish there was a hint system. I’m stuck on one called Barrel Conservation (I think?) and just cannot for the life of me figure it out. Recommend for sure!

If you grew up on the NES, chances are you might remember a lovely little puzzle game featuring a blue ball character that goes by the name Lolo. You push blocks around, collect hearts, shoot eggs at adorable enemies, and work your way through each level's mind-wringing puzzles to rescue the pink ball character, Lala. All based on a Famicom series called Eggerland. This game, as it accurately markets itself, captures that whole playstyle and reimagines it into a nice spiritual successor. Only instead of being a hero saving a damsel, you're an alien escaping a lab. Instead of collecting hearts, you're collecting keys. Instead of shooting eggs you're shooting slime. So on so forth. It's a nice fresh indie take on a classic that corporate giants completely left behind; I'm glad someone decided to resurrect it. Another similar puzzle game you might remember is Chip's Challenge. This game plays somewhat similarly to that, as opposed to say action puzzles like Tetris or Columns. So if you're into solving puzzles using the environment around you, this game will suit you well.
