Void: Edge of Existence

Game has been great so far!! What few issues i've ran into were fixed same day!! Dev is very open to suggestions from people in the discord. Seems like there is a lot of things planned for this year to add new and exciting things to the game! Replay is good if you find yourself getting stuck on a boss you can always reset and start over to farm more skill points to make yourself even more powerful. Overall I highly suggest picking this up at $6 you will defiantly earn your monies worth

When I was sent a key for this game after watching some gameplay videos, I did not expect to be writing a review that wasn't at least a reserved recommendation but my time with Void was unfortunately rough. The opening voiceover and first couple characters are charmingly voiced by the developer himself, but unfortunately the game takes forever to let you do anything, putting anime style still shots over the plodding opening monologue and then putting the player into the game to listen to an NPC convo that lasts about five minutes and just features two characters rooted in place trading volleys of dialogue. Then, once you get free, you can click on a nearby wall to get a list of what the button prompts 1-4 on your screen do (2 attacks, a dodge, and some ability that didn't make clear its effect, maybe a buff?) but they disappear too fast and often appear on top of one another. Not only that, but these inputs have to be completely controlled via 1-4 keys. There's no mouse usage in combat, just mouselook in general. This decision's wild in and of itself, but the dodge move is also once of these four inputs so you'll have to hold your hand in this awkward way to have one finger on …

Could be a better game if you would get random BoE drops from the skeletons at the start to the Void Guard. I could barely kill the mobs because the range was bugged out sometimes and wouldn't hit the mobs. As well as no mini-map or a map overall that you get at the start which makes the beginning for new players a bit difficult to play as you don't really know what the mobs do or give or how to obtain certain items. I would rate this game higher if there was a clear goal on what to do from start. Storyline part / intro was great loved the storytelling (from the little I got....), but I will continue to play and try to beat the game if it is beatable! Enjoyment 4/10 Gameplay 4/10 Sound / Storytelling 6/10 Viable for new players 3/10 Overall a 4.2/10 from me.

First... a disclaimer. I've played very few games. I'm loyal to the same game most of the time, so getting into new games... It's not something I'm used to. Void was pretty easy to figure out - after my first death. I like the manga and the graphics. It's not super complicated, but then this is not a $100-game. First I went soul searching. Died at the first gap, then figured I could use Space to jump, just like in any other game, but it wasn't mentioned... haha, so I didn't think. Then I got further but didn't pay attention to my health bar when I met a mob. Right... Got some points and lost another soul shard. Then I tried Rift mode. Simpler in some ways, but I think the difficulty level could be better for beginners. Sometimes there is one mob, fine. At other times you're suddenly surrounded by mobs. And oh, yours truly died miserably again. Overall, I find it a fun and challenging little game. It's one you can play if you have 5-10 minutes and don't have time to get into more complicated games.

The story premise of this game is very interesting, but I am really not a fan of the combat. The trash (non-boss) mobs deal far too much damage, and their attack patterns aren't telegraphed, so there is little chance to avoid them unlike the boss mechanics. Also, the attack abilities have little to no range, which makes it very difficult to kite multiple enemies. Furthermore, dying can actually take your soul shard score into the negatives, which makes it very difficult to progress in the game at all if you get behind early like I did.
