Stellar Warfare

The game's an absolute blast; being able to design your own ships is so much fun, and I think unique to the RTS genre right now. The full 3d space maneuverability is excellent and implemented really well; it's easy to send ships where you want them, and the ship-to-shop and ship-to-building combat is very satisfying. The dev is super active and invested in the project and community feedback as well, so it's a win all around!

3dimensions make for boring open maps with little to challenge a RTS FAN. The reason so few space rts games use full 3dimension BOX maps is because they discover quickly the limits of engaging map design. Where many more have stuck to a much more limited plane and hit the right tone where there is some movement in ships up and down but limited from a tactical point of view. Look at all the great great space RTS and you will see it. Home world is the only exception and frankly Home world 3 proved how overrated that was. This game would be great great great if you could select a restricted 3dimensionality mode that also had maps that are way more interesting like say STAR TREK Armada 1,2. I have high hopes in future the dev team can expand this games core mechanics and offer better tactical landscapes and modes by having a restricted 3d mode. Having maps with multiple sectors or entirely separate regions connected by gates, wormholes etc would also allow for more interesting ships and weapons to be added such as super long range artillery, ,stealth, suicide bomber, mobile shields, bigger carriers .etc If they did this and we got more diverse maps with choke points and…

Stellar Warfare is an interesting one: it is innovative in that it allows you to pick your "frames", ten ships of any design, size and inventory you care for, with each loadout of ten ships being swappable at the start of each game, so you can change your emphasis and playstyle easily. On the face of it, this seems simple, but different games require different balance: ships are split into Light, Medium and Heavy frames/weapon types, and are best countered by others of the same style. This demands that your fleet have a certain balance to it: you can't just fire off a fleet of Heavy Battleships, because they may not be best suited to deal with your opposition! That being said, some of the mechanics can be slow or frustrating: resource generation is a pain much of the time (you have three: metal, power and population), and generating enough of them to propagate a fleet at speed can be tricky. The 3D map (which incorporates up and down, so you're playing on a full three-dimensional plane) can be a nuisance, but realistic despite that - and does allow for some interesting base designs as you layer buildings on top of each other! Nice graphics and UI, there is a lot going on at once but when you get in the grove it makes sense. Customisable ships help out with different levels, i'm about 3/4 in so far but I keep going back to see "What If?" with different configurations. There's potential here, and it's great to see someone contributing to the Sci-Fi RTS genre.

reminds me of old school rts but alot more ships and laserz cant wait to see what else comes out of this

I am always looking for RTS games that fit the bill I am looking for and this one did. I love their endless wave mode. Thanks guys!
