About Squarepinski
Welcome to Squarepinski
A Minimalist Puzzle with Maximum CharmSquarepinski is a cosy but challenging puzzle game that reinvents the classic jigsaw. In this geometric challenge, every piece is the humble square; but don’t be fooled by their lack of tabs! Instead of relying on borders or corners, you'll be figuring out how big each piece needs to be, and which have been mirrored! It's jigsaw puzzling... but not as you know it.Hand-Drawn Whimsy
Enjoy original, hand-drawn artwork, specifically designed for this unique puzzle format. Solve charming scenes of animals doing delightfully human things, like badgers serving beers or cows playing poker.Relax and Unwind
With soft sounds and a cosy, relaxed vibe, Squarepinski offers a peaceful space to unwind and engage your brain at your own pace. No timer. No Pressure. Just you, a charming puzzle, and a warm cup of whimsy. What do I get?
- 5 Unique puzzle packs (with more to come as DLC in the future)
- Classic: The original line up from the 2024 Game Makers Toolkit Gamejam
- Maru & Mochi: Adorable cats belonging to our devoloper
- Oni: A Shepsky belonging to our Artist & Designer
- Harmonia Village: More scenes of critters in the style of the original game art

As someone who doesn't generally play puzzle games it didn't take me much to learn the game mechanics, as I think the game does a great job of teaching the mechanics. The game allows for solving the puzzle in different ways and more than the solving part I was much enjoying the solutions alongside the amazing art and the really nice background music. There are so many puzzles to do which at the start did overwhelm me a bit, like which one should I do first. But after doing the first few I just did whichever one's I liked. The game also provides different difficulty options as well which I think allow for understanding the puzzle better so that I can go and do it at a higher difficulty, and with the art style being like this I don't really feel the repetitiveness of the puzzles all that much. The different type of puzzles like the Fractals are really the highlight of the gameplay for me as I love those kind of artistic images and those were my favorite puzzles in the game. And as stated before the game has really soothing background music to boost the gameplay alongside it's Artstyle. The ability to create your own custom puzzles in the game is also a nice plus, I can use some imag…2 found this helpful
Wonderful and great idea! I myself don't enjoy puzzles, but saw it on GMTK's video and had to show my wife. She enjoyed it, but the idea runs itself dry quickly. In contrast to normal puzzles where the shape can work as a hint, it can get rather frustrating to work with same-colored pieces in this game in contrast. That is because there is nothing to go off that can help you identify in which orientation it needs to be rotatated or flipped to. One minor example would be the campfire and the white are above it. You will spend a lot of time just mindlessly rotating and flipping a piece without feeling fulfilled once it clicks, because it already is obvious it belongs there in the first place. Also, being able to set more than 30 pieces would have been great once you've figured out the mechanics. Nontheless, great game concept!
